Caribbean Stud Poker, also known as simply Caribbean Poker, has become a big draw at traditional casinos over the last ten years or so. Cryptologic / Wagerlogic powered casinos now offer their own progressive version of Caribbean Stud called Spice Island Poker. Spice Island Poker works like this. You first make a bet called an ante. Then you receive 5 cards, and the dealer receives 5 cards. The dealer then shows you one of his cards. At this point, you decide to fold, which means you'll lose your ante, or call, which means you have to put up a 2nd bet equal to your ante. If you call, the dealer must have an ace-king to qualify. If he doesn't, then all the players automatically receive a payout in the amount of the ante bet only. If the dealer has a better hand than you do, you lose both your ante and the additional bet you made when you called. If you beat the dealer, your ante bet is paid off at even odds, but your additional bet is paid off according to how good your hand is. The payoff table for this is below: Spice Island Poker Payouts
Ace King even money To win the progressive jackpot available in Spice Island Poker, you must make an optional $1 side bet. This bet qualifies you for a bonus on certain hands. So Spice Island Poker costs $6 per round to play, $5 for the ante bet, and $1 for the side bet. The payouts for the side bet are below:
Flush $50 Spice Island Poker is a fun game with a reasonably low house edge when compared with other gambling games. The chances of hitting a big win pretty decent, and the strategy is more or less common sense. It's one of my favorite games from any of the Cryptologic casinos, and even though it's not a slot machine game, I've included information about it here because of the progressive jackpot.
