New 50s Themed Online Slots Game

September 22nd, 2010

We have seen what other online casino game developers have dished out this month in the way of new online slots games, and now it is time to see what Rival has for its partner online casinos.

For slots players who are fans of the iconography of the 1950s the new online slots game from Rival, called Doo Wop Daddy-O, is sure to become a favorite. There are Pink Poodles, Records, Jukeboxes and Classic Cars. Oh, and lots of neon sign letters.

It is like the malt shop exploded and turned into an online slots game. The graphics are colorful and have captured what everyone likes to remember about the 50s. True to Rival Gaming’s style, the graphics are well-done and the animation smooth.

The Motorcycle is the Scatter offering an easy payout for landing as little as two of them.

Naturally there is a Wild in Doo Wop Daddy-O, the letters of Wild spelled out in pink neon sign letters. It will substitute for any symbol in the game except for the two bonus symbols.

Yes, I said two bonus symbols. Instead of free spins, Rival put two bonus games into this new online slots game, and they each represent to iconographic things from the 50s: the soda fountain and racing.

The Soda Fountain bonus game is triggered by landing three or more Milkshakes. Players are then taken to a second screen where they are behind the counter of a soda fountain. They task is to make a dessert for a girl whose name is probably Judy.

Various pieces that make up ice cream sundaes will glow. Players have to click on the glowing pieces to build the probably-Judy’s dessert. The more pieces that make up her dessert, the bigger the bonus prize.

The other bonus game is the Drag Race bonus game and it is triggered by landing three or more of the Red Classic Truck. I hope you can drive stick.

On a second screen players will see a steering wheel and a gear shift knob along with a plus and minus symbol. Players have to click plus to shift up and minus to downshift when the arrow points to a new gear. When the game says ‘Honk’ click the steering wheel to give an extra boost to the bonus prize. Crossing the line first also gives an extra bonus prize.

Having two bonus games rather than one is what stands out in this new online slots game. Not to mention all the 50s iconography. Two bonus games will help add to players’ bankroll, which will most likely make this a popular new offering in Rival powered online casinos.

Tally Ho! To the Slots!

September 22nd, 2010

Microgaming certainly keeps busy. Despite launching what is probably going to be one of their most popular online slots games, Lord of the Rings did not slow down their developers and there is another new online slots game launched this month too. Although with much less fanfare.

The new five reel Tally Ho online slots game has been launched.

Taking a break from the usual twenty or twenty five paylines, Tally Ho only offers nine paylines to play on. This is good because it cuts down the cost of a spin, but it also reduces the opportunities per spin to land a combination.

Naturally the name Tally Ho brings to mind the traditional English fox hunt. And, yes, you will be spinning the reels in hopes of finding a fox, but only because Lord Fox offers a payout of 750 coins while Lady Fox offers a 600 coin payout.

That is all the fox hunting you will be doing. The rest of the symbols are there to show off the rich lifestyle that these foxes now have since fox hunting is not nearly as common as it used to be. Such symbols include the Fox’s Mansion, Rolls Royce, Crest, and six symbols of rich, decadent food.

There are two symbols though that allude to the English fox hunt of old: the Horse and the Horn.

The Horse is the Wild. Rather than hurting the Foxes, the Horse helps as it will substitute for any symbol for the Foxes’ rich lifestyle, adding a 2x multiplier to any combination it completes. The only symbol it does not substitute for is the Horn.

The Horse also offers the two highest payouts: 6,000 coins for five Horses and 1,000 coins for four Horses.

As for that Horn, it is the Scatter and the trigger for free spins feature.

Three or more Horns and you will be awarded with ten free spins that carry a 4x multiplier on each spin. This brings the possibility of winning a maximum of 24,000 coins from one free spin.

The new online slots game Tally Ho offers players fun, hunting-free fun with the graphics and animation that Microgaming is known for. A nice release even if it has to share its release month with Lord of the Rings.

Agent Cash Slots Game

September 21st, 2010

What do you get when you cross a British spy with an online slots game?

You get Vegas Technology’s latest online slots game Agent Cash.

This five reel, thirty payline online slots game is one of two new online slots to join the Vegas Technology line up. It features a theme with a British spy working to save the world. Very Bond, yes?

Vegas Technology is beginning to step up their bonus features with this new online slots game. Agent Cash feature no one, but two Wilds and one of those Wilds is an Expanding Wild.

The Brunette is featured on reels one and five. Players who land her on both at the same time will see her symbol expand into Wilds that cover both reels. It is not just one Expanding Wild, it is two.

The standard Wild is that Aston Martin. This Wild will payout 1,250 coins if five are landed. The Aston Martin will substitute for all symbols except for the Villain and the Blonde.

And speaking of that Blonde, she is the Scatter that, when landed on reels one, three and five, will trigger the bonus game. Of the three Blondes, the player will choose one symbol which will then reveal either free spins, bonus coins or will trigger the beginning of the Pick or Die bonus game.

The Pick or Die bonus game shows the player thirty face down cards. All have bonus prizes and one is the stopper card. Your mission is to flip as many cards as possible to rack up your bonus prize before flipping over the stopper card, which ends the bonus game.

As for the Villain, he is the jackpot symbol. Landing five of him will award a 10,000 coin jackpot. But players only need three of him to be awarded the minimum, which is 100 coins.

With the double Expanding Wild and multiple possibilities for the bonus game, Vegas Technology is definitely starting to step up the features in their new online slots games. Agent Cash is hopefully a sign of the slots games to come from Vegas Technology.

Slot Machines Long Term Paybacks

September 21st, 2010

Players often wonder about the long term payback on the slot machines in brick and mortar casinos. Many players feel that they have to wager the maximum in order to get the highest percentage of a long term payback.

And they would be right.

The truth is that slot machines have different long term paybacks depending on how many coins you are wagering. The more coins you are wagering per payline, the higher the long term payback will be.

For players who are lucky enough or who are ‘in’ enough with the staff at their favorite brick and mortar casino, and can get their hands on the par sheet for a slot machine, they will see that the long term payback of one machine will have different percentages for each coin level wagered.

And of course the more coins you wager the higher the long term payback will be.

But also bear in mind that just because you are wagering the maximum in coins, it does not mean that you are more guaranteed to win a jackpot.

All a long term payback is is the amount of money paid back over a period of time from the slot machine. It is not a gauge of slots odds for that slot machine.

So it seems that this idea of maximum coin wagers to have a shot at the best long term pay back percentage is a bit tricky. You have to wager more to have a shot at winning more back.

But really that should not be surprising. The more money a slot machine takes in on maximum coins wagers, the more it has to pay out to stay within the payout percentage it is programmed with.

If the slot machine is not paying out within its payout percentage then it is considered ‘not working’ and must be taken off the floor.

So really it is not surprising that the highest long term pay back goes with the maximum coin wager.

If players still want a shot a slot machine’s highest long term pay back but do not want to wager the maximum coins on a particular machine, they should consider playing a slot machine with a smaller maximum coin wager.

New Slots Game: Goblin’s Treasure

September 17th, 2010

Seeing what new online slots games are released is the best part of each month. Today we finally see this month’s release by Real Time Gaming.

Joining their Real series of online slots games is Goblin’s Treasure, a five reel online slots game with twenty five paylines.

According to legends and mythology, goblins are often associated with treasure and riches, but you have to manage to get it away from them first. So this is a very fitting theme for a slots game.

True to the Real series of online slots games by Real Time Gaming, Goblin’s Treasure entices players with two jackpots—a minor and a major—as well as a win-win feature.

Neither one of the jackpots has a limit on how high it can climb before being won. And when the minor jackpot resets, it resets to $250 while the major reset to $1,000.

The win-win feature is only triggered if bonus credits are not won in the free spins feature.

The way it works is that the free spins are triggered by the landing three of the Scatter symbol just like in any online slots game. However free spins do not guarantee that any bonus money will be won; they are simply spins that will not cost the player any money.

Should a player not be lucky enough to take some of the Goblin’s treasure away during any of the free spins, the win-win feature is then triggered. It is during the win-win feature that the player can win up 1,000x their wager.

So I guess you could say that a player will not come away from a Real series slots game’s free spins with nothing.

To top these features off Goblin’s Treasure also boosts multiplying Wilds. That should not be surprising—goblins are clever little thing, which is why there is also a Wild Goblin who, when landed on the first reel, will award a 5x multiplier to the wager.

Real Time has given everything they can to help players win some treasure away from the goblins in Goblin’s Treasure. This new online slots game can be found at Real Time Gaming online casinos, like Club USA. So who is going to take the chance to try to steal away some goblin treasure?

Slots Odds and Payout Percentages

September 17th, 2010

There is a lot of bad slots advice and tips out there.

There are some people out there writing about slots that have no business writing about them. Unfortunately the little pieces they write wind up on those huge general information sites where unsuspecting players looking for information will find. They then build unreasonable expectations of slots games that do not really exist.

For example I found one that said that online slots were better because they had a lower house edge. They said, and I quote, “You get an incredibly low house edge. The payout percentage for online slots average 95-98%…those are incredible odds.”

This person obviously knows nothing about online slots, slots odds and payout percentages.

Payout percentages have nothing to do with slots odds.

Payout percentages are only a figure on how much money a slots game pays back out of its total intake. Meaning if a slots game takes in $100,000 in total wagers and pays out $95,000, it means that it has a payout percentage of 95%.

And while online slots games do have better payout percentages than slot machines, payout percentages do not say anything about the odds of winning a spin.

This is because there is no comment or figure in a payout percentage as to whether the winnings paid out come in the form of a small number of large payouts, which would give the slots game a larger house edge because the game does not hit as often; or whether the winnings come in the form of many smaller payouts, which would mean a lower house edge because the game is more likely to hit.

What slots players need to understand is that payout percentage has nothing to do with slots odds. Payout percentage only tells the player how much money is the game pays out in winnings. That is it.

I repeat, they have nothing to do with telling the player the house edge or what a player’s slots odds are.

Lord of the Rings Slots Party

September 16th, 2010

As the online slots world is well aware, Microgaming launched their new Lord of the Rings online slots game earlier this month.

True enough it is an impressive online slots game. And to celebrate the launch of this new online slots game Microgaming hosted a launch party at their home on the Isle of Man where they are based.

Guests were surrounded by decorations to bring the movie to mind, including adapting the party area into a hobbit habitat. Well, a hobbit habit that is human-sized of course.

Guests, which included ministers from the Isle of Man, business leaders and members of the media, not only got to try out the new online slots game, they got to play in their own private competition that night. The guests with the top three highest scores were told to name a favored charity. Those three charities received a nice £10,000 donation from Microgaming.

Now that is a nice sort of slots tournament.

The overall guest reaction was that Microgaming has topped themselves with this online slots game, and that it is their best online slots game to date. And this is taking Thunderstruck II from earlier this year into consideration.

But this is will not be the last the online slots world hears about Microgaming and The Lord of the Rings.

Remember the official name of this new slots game is The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. You know what that means.

Yes, there will be two more Lord of the Rings online slots games, one for each of the movies that make up the movie trilogy.

I think that, like the movie trilogy, this will be the online slots game experience of this decade. The first in this trilogy of Lord of the Rings online slots games is a good indicator of what players can expect down the road.

New Online Slots: Bitten

September 16th, 2010

Seems that between the True Blood TV show and the Twilight craze vampires are the ‘in’ supernatural creature right now. So it is no surprise that there would be new online slots games created with vampire themes.

Several months ago Vegas Technology released their new online slots game with a vampire theme called Vampire Vixen.

Now, at the height of the True Blood enthusiasm, WagerWorks is releasing their own new online slots game with a vampire theme. They are calling it Bitten.

The comic book style graphics are more reminiscent of Twilight rather than True Blood, but it seems that they were aiming at the adult audience of Twilight:

“WagerWorks has capitalized on what is proving to be a global phenomenon right now—vampires! …Fans of blood sucking movies such as Twilight will love its superb comic book inspired graphics,” said Head of Products at Virgin Games Warren Eloff.

I have to honest. I am about as much of a fan of Twilight as a homeless person is of being homeless. I am, however, a fan of good features. And thankfully Bitten has them.

There is no bonus game in Bitten. However it does have a pretty awesome Wild. This Wild not only substitutes for other symbols to create winning combinations, it also works as a Scatter symbol. So if you happen to land two or three you will receive a Scatter payout on top of any winning combinations it completes.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the Wild symbol also carries a 2xmultiplier on any winning combination it helps to complete.

Landing three or more bonus symbols will trigger the free spins feature. Once triggered players will find themselves traveling to a crypt where they choose a coffin. Each coffin contains a number of free spins. So choose your resting place well as it determines the number of your free spins.

The best part of these free spins is that their multiplier is not fixed—it increases more and more with each free spin.

So despite the Twilight inspired take on the vampire theme, Bitten carries some decent game features. WagerWorks has done well with its new online slots game.

First for a Progressive Slots Jackpot

September 15th, 2010

The management at Jackpot City was a bit stunned by their most recent progressive slots jackpot winner of £4,444.

No, they were not stunned by the fact that someone won the progressive jackpot. So if it is not the fact that a player won that stunned them, how exactly do you stun the management staff of an online casino?

Simple. You refuse to accept the jackpot.

A spokesman from Jackpot City said, “This is a first for us at Jackpot City, where a player has refused to claim their winnings.”

The latest winner of the WowPot progressive jackpot hails from China. And he has declined his progressive jackpot win on the grounds of his culture’s superstitions.

Culture in China is very different from Western culture. The Chinese believe very much in their culture’s superstitions, this includes the belief in Numerology.

So what was the Numerology superstition that has this man in China refusing his jackpot?

In Chinese Numerology the word for the number 4 has a very similar sound to the word ‘death’ in Chinese. Because of the similar sound, the number 4 is to be avoided as often as possible. Dealings with the number 4 are believed to bring bad luck, another cultural belief in China.

You can see how a prize made up of four number 4s would make this winner wary.

“This player contacted customer support upset about the winnings amount. He was not keen about missing his winnings but at the same time is very worried about bringing bad luck to himself and his family,” a spokesman said.

So what do you do when a player refuses to accept their progressive slots jackpot winnings? Well, I do not know and it seems that management at Jackpot City does not either, but they are trying to figure it out:

“We are talking with the player in hopes of working out a different approach which would be sensitive to the player’s beliefs and also ensure he does not lose out on his progressive winnings.”

At least we know that online casinos, despite the reputation for wanting to take a player’s money, do make the effort to make sure they get their progressive slots jackpot winnings.

Slot Machines to Come to New York

September 15th, 2010

Patrons of the Aqueduct race track in New York City have reason to be excited. The long-delayed construction and operation contract for the installation of slot machines at the New York race track has finally been approved.

Genting New York LLC, a part of the multinational organization Genting Group, is the lucky winner of the contract for the Aqueduct construction and operation.

Actually ‘lucky’ should not be the description. Genting New York LLC was backed by the state’s Lottery Division. In fact, Lottery Director Gordon Medencia actually wrote a letter to the state’s governor, David Paterson, in support of Genting, saying that they were rational in their approach to the city’s complex construction environment.

As a result of the now approved contract, the Aqueduct will be installing around 4,500 slot machines, turning the race track into a racino.

This decision to add slot machines to the Aqueduct is an attempt to bring in much needed revenue, similar to other states’ decisions to expand their current gambling offering or upgrade their race tracks. It is expected that the slot machine revenue alone will bring in around $1 million per day…eventually.

I saw eventually because the Aqueduct will not be starting out immediately with all 4,500 slot machines.

Genting has suggested only starting out with 1,600 slot machines and that only after six months approval on the contract. Their reasons were not given, but I am going to assume that this will give them adequate time to expand the race track into a racino, and to allow those nearby and patrons to adjust to the expansion.

If this initial start is what is decided upon, the remaining slot machines would follow on the heels of the first 1,600 six months after, taking the project a year in all to be completed.

This expansion comes with a thirty year license and will be the model for the future of the New York racing industry.

Another side benefit of the addition of slot machines to the New York Aqueduct is the 1,300 construction jobs and 800 permanent jobs that come along with this expansion. New York is sure to see a positive outcome from these incoming slot machines.
