Best Slots Apps

January 18th, 2012

I was scanning the internet for the best slot games online yesterday when it hit me, applications! Why have I not thought to play casino games on my phone and tablet computer? All this time it was right at my fingertips, literally. I left Wikipedia and went immediately to Google. There I hunted down reviews, personal blogs, ratings and came up with a list of the slot applications that you should be downloading.

Let’s start with the free ones and then slowly work our way into the high-roller apps. Meaning the ones that will set you back one or two dollars. My favorite free one should be pretty easy to find: ‘Slot Machine’ is the name of it. Although a rather simple name, ‘Slot Machine’ has over 20 different games to choose from and offers a $100 welcoming bonus.

If you are willing to spend a dollar on an app then ‘Monkey Money Slots’ or ‘Lucky 7 Slots’ are for you. These both have a lot of fun features, and can become easily addictive.

Now if you have two dollars lying around then I have the game that you should purchase. ‘Vegas Slots’ will literally virtually transport you to Vegas just by playing this application. I find this game to be the most effective out of all of the casino games, not just slot games.

So there you have it, the best slots apps out there. What shall I write about next? What do you need to know and learn to become a slot hero? I am here to be your authority on all things slots!

Slot Machine Tips to Help You Win

November 8th, 2011

Here are a few essential tips to keep in mind when you are playing slots online.

First let’s find our website. Make sure you’re playing at the best online casino, if you don’t know what one of these casinos are go to a gambling directory for help, like Yahoo! or Online Casino Suite.
Make sure the site you are at allows you to practice with some funny money. This should be around $1,000; all of the best casinos provide you with this. Also make sure you are at a casino with at least a 95% payout. Upper 90s are what you should aim for, and they are out there.

Once you have found the site you would like to play at, find your game. I like to play progressive slot machines with bonus rounds. Any game with a bonus round is in general going to have a higher jackpot for you to win. And a progressive game means the jackpot keeps growing with every bet, until it is won.

When I play I like to place the max bet. You cannot win the maximum jackpot without the max bet. If you are playing at a game where the max bet is just far too large, than you are playing at the wrong machine, it’s that simple.

And finally practice. Get a feel for the game. Any seasoned slot player is going to tell you that the best way to win at slots is to warm up to the machine, and trust your gut.

Differences in Denominations

August 11th, 2011

This morning I mentioned in my post about choosing an online slots game I mentioned that the differences in different wagering denominations are not worth the differences in payout percentages. The reason for this is all math based, so let’s jump in.

We are going to say that an online slots game has a 96.5% payout percentage at the maximum wager of five coins at a $1 per coin and a 96% payout percentage when only one coin at a penny a coin is wagered per payline. Going off of this morning’s estimate, we are going to say that our online slots player makes 420 spins in an hour. This is a twenty five payline online slots game.

This means that the maximum cost of a spin at $1 per coin and five coins per payline is $125. On the other end of the scale the total cost of a spin at a penny per coin and five coins per payline is $1.25.

Right off you can see that there is not even a whole percent difference between the two payout percentages. Less than a percent. And you can also see that there is a big difference in the cost of a spin. Players are risking $123.75 more per spin just to get that extra half of a percent in payout percentage. This is not worth the risk.

Granted I went with two opposite ends of the spectrum. So let’s say a dime instead of penny. That brings the cost of our spin up to $12.50 compared to $125.

At the end of the day there is a greater potential to lose more, and lose it faster when wagering the maximum just to get a teeny bit more of a payout percentage. Wager smart when playing an online slots game and do not go with the maximum.

Choosing an Online Slots Game

August 4th, 2011

Part of playing online slots games is choosing which one to play from the hundreds of possibilities. Here on SlotsHero.com we have talked about a couple of the most common statistics that players use when choosing which online slots game to play: payout percentage and hit frequency.

Now it is important to know that while statistics like payout percentage and hit frequency are accurate measures that reflect on an online slots game, they are not precise.

Look at payout percentage. It tells a player how much of all of the wagers taken in during month that are paid back out in wagers. It does not tell a player if that is a bunch of small payouts or a smaller number of large payouts. The same sort of thing applies to hit frequency. It only tells a player how often an online slots game hits, but it does not say if that statistic is made up of small hits or jackpot hits.

So you might wonder why online slots players will use these two statistics to choose an online slots game when they lack preciseness. They do because there is no other statistics that players can lay their hands on.

So how does a player use these two if they are so imprecise? As basic as it sounds, trial and error.

Say you are looking for an online slots game based on payout percentage. You might start with the highest percentage that you mind, but once you start playing you discover that it does not payout in small payouts, but seems to lean towards infrequent larger payouts, and this is not what you want. At this point you would have back to comparing payout percentages, choosing a new online slots game and giving it a run to see if it pays out more like how you want it to.

Finding the right online slots game does take a bit of trial and error and that is something that players need to keep in mind when cruising the online casinos.

Minding Your Slots Money

July 28th, 2011

We have talked more than once about how there really is no viable online slots strategy. That it is because the slots game’s Random Number Generator (RNG) and the actual set up of the game makes it impossible for the player to have any impact on the outcome of a spin. So what is there that a player can control?

Money. An online slots player can control their money. To a certain degree, meaning they are in charge of how they wager and whether or not they use any progression betting systems.

First off, it is not a wise decision to use a progression betting systems. The doubling of a wager until a win is made more often than not results in an online slots player’s bankroll being whipped out in no time. The best way to wager on slots is to stick to flat betting, meaning choose the amount you wish to wager and stick with it until you feel the need to lower or raise your wager, and then stick with that.

Also of note when minding your money and wagering on slots is how you wager on paylines. There is no payline that is more likely to land a winning combination than another. It is therefore foolish to set some paylines with a higher wager than others. This is not optimal slots wagering. Optimal payline waging in slots is to bet evenly on all paylines. This will ensure that no matter where a winning combination lands, it has just as much of a chance of paying out as it would on any other payline.

With no viable strategy for impacting an outcome of a spin, it is very important for online slots players to mind their money. Bankroll management is a key ingredient in playing online slots.

Slots Myth: Using Intuition

July 27th, 2011

When it comes to choosing an online slots game, there are people who will tell you to base your choice on intuition. After all, using your intuition is a classic Vegas way of determining how to play you cards or slots or choose which numbers to play.

Unfortunately this is not the best way to choose which online slots game to play despite how prevalent the ‘Let Your Intuition Be Your Guide’ slots strategy is. If you are playing a strategy game, then use bona-fide strategy. And if you are playing a game of chance, like online slots, make your decisions based on what you want. If you really want to play that Egyptian themed slots game, then play that one.

Online slots are not just a form of gambling, it is also a form of entertainment. So you should enjoy the slots game you are playing. If your intuition seems to think you should play a slots game that you do not want to play, do not play it then.

There are a number of reasons for choosing a particular online slots game. A popular method is to choose based on the payout percentage of an online slots game. The payout percentage is the amount of total wagers paid back in winnings in a given time period, usually a month.

Another way to choose is to read the forums on online casino sites and see which slots games everyone is talking about. Read and find out why there is such a buzz about a game and then decide if you want to play it.

But it is unwise to look at a lineup of online slots and see which one ‘feels’ like it will payout. It has been proven time and again in studies that intuition is not a proper guide on how to play online slots or any other online casino game. Blindly choosing which or how to play online slots is more often than not detrimental to a player’s bankroll. And not online slots player wants to do anything that would be detrimental to their bankroll when playing a game of chance.

Payout Percentages for Choosing Slots

July 20th, 2011

At their core, online slots games are the same. They all work off of a Random Number Generator (RNG) which will pull one of the thousands of potential outcomes possible for the result of a spin each time. So when it comes to choosing which online slots game to play, players need something to go off of.

Some will choose which online slots game based purely on the theme of the game. There is nothing wrong with this; it is an entertainment based choice. And every online slots player has the right to play based on the enjoyment they get out of a theme.

Others will choose which slots online game to play based on the bonus features offered. A recent trend has software developers including a bonus game less often than in previous years. Some players do prefer bonus games to free spins—finding them more entertaining than free spins—and will seek out online slots with bonus games.

But a good number of online slots players will choose which game to play online after comparing the payout percentages of several online slots. The payout percentage of an online slots game is the amount of total wagers that is paid back out in winnings across the board; the winnings do not go to a single player. It is simply a percentage of how much that is taken in is paid back out. Naturally the higher the payout percentage, the more of the online slots game’s total wager is paid back out.

As a result online slots players will look for the online slots game with the highest payout percentage. A high payout percentage does not guarantee a large payout for any particular slots player. However players feel that there is a better chance of getting a payout out of an online slots game that pays back more than another online slots game.

Luck and Online Slots

July 4th, 2011

I am sure you have heard stories about the things people do in Vegas when it comes to slot machines. I am talking about the things they bring or do to try to win the favor of Lady Luck.

I have seen and heard of people only wearing specific clothes to play in; setting good luck statues on the machines; and even blessing the machines with holy water.

At the end of the day if they had improved luck, it was a coincidence. I do not say this to be mean. I say this because luck cannot be swayed when it comes to slot machines. And the same applies to online slots as well.

Just like slot machines, online slots games are governed by randomness. It is the nature of the Random Number Generator (RNG). The RNG is what controls the outcome of a spin. And even then ‘controls’ is not really the right word.

When an online slots game is built, the software developers will program every possible outcome of a spin into the RNG. The RNG is then programmed to work with the online slots game. When someone is playing, as soon as the Spin button is clicked the RNG will randomly (hence ‘random’ in its name) pull an outcome from all the other possible outcomes. This happens in less than a second. Because of the RNG there is no way to sway the outcome of a spin or to influence the luck of a spin.

While luck is associated with online slots, it is only so because of how there is no way to have an impact on a spin. Unfortunately clothing, statues and holy water will not change how the RNG functions. It is best when playing online slots to focus on how you are wagering and the speed at which you a playing.

Tracking Slots Games

June 30th, 2011

Tracking is a popular pseudo slots strategy when it comes to online slots playing. I say ‘pseudo’ because tracking the wins and payouts of an online slots game does an actually increase a player’s chances of winning or ‘cracking’ an online slots game. Let me explain.

Online slots are games of chance. This means that the game’s RNG will pull the result for a spin in the first microsecond after the Spin button is clicked. The RNG will pull the outcome of a spin from all possible outcomes; none are removed from being a possibility. With none being removed from being pulled for a spin, it means that tracking does not ‘crack’ how or when a certain combination will land. For example, say an online slots game lands a particular combination seven times and then lands the jackpot; it does not mean that landing that particular combination seven more time will trigger the jackpot. It is entirely random.

Another reason tracking does not work is that a player cannot see the results of any other player’s spins on that same online slots game. So even if tracking did work, the player doing the tracking would not be able to factor in the results of the hundreds or thousands of the players’ results.

However, there is one thing that all online slots players should be tracking: how much they lose and how much the win. This information comes in handy come tax time. Online slots players can actually claim their losses up to a certain point. And any major slots wins also have to be claimed; in fact, there is a special form of gambling winnings.

So rather than tracking the results of spins in an ineffectual attempt to ‘crack’ an online slots game, players should be tracking their losses and wins from playing online slots.

Maximizing Online Slots Paylines

June 28th, 2011

Earlier today I wrote a post about how to choose which paylines to wager on when playing an online slots game. The discussion ended with the notion of maximizing paylines.

When playing online slots it is best to wager on all of the paylines. But it is not quite as simple as making sure all of the paylines are active. Sure it will ensure that you have left all possibilities open—after all you would not want to land a winning combination only to have that payline inactive.

And going off of the notion that you want to make the most off of a winning combination when one is landed on an online slots game, it also makes sense in a betting strategy to have the same wager on each payline. This is as opposed to wagering a quarter on a handful of paylines and a penny on the others.

When a winning combination is landed the payout is based on the amount that is wagered on that paylines. The only time the total wager is taken into account is if a Scatter payout is being awarded. Otherwise the payout is based on the amount wagered on the payline. So if you only wagered a penny and land the jackpot, it will be calculated based on the penny wager.

So to maximize the paylines when playing an online slots game you will want to evenly wager on the paylines. Keep them all active and wager the same amount on each payline. This will leave you in a good place no matter which payline a winning combination is landed on. Part of playing online slots is playing smart. And maximizing your paylines is one such way.
