Slots Tournaments on the Hour

June 17th, 2011

Some online casinos will only offer online slots tournaments at certain times, and those times are not always convenient for all player. Rushmore Casino has solved that issue though. Over at Rushmore there is an online slots tournament starting every hour on the hour.

Rushmore offers six online slots tournaments which can be broken down into three varieties. Here is a rundown of the slots tournaments that Rushmore offers.

Starting with the least expensive, are the $1 tournaments. These cost $1.10 to enter. The breakdown of the entry fee has $1 going into the prize pool, or pot, and the $0.10 going to the casino for operating costs. There are two tournaments that fall into this category, the Loose Caboose and the Enchanted Garden. Both tournaments take their names from the online slots game used.

Next up are the $5 slots tournaments. Players who would like to play in one of these two tournaments have to pay an entry fee of $5.50, with $5 going into the pot and $0.50 going to the online casino. When it comes to the games, there are two to choose from: Triple Twister and Crystal Waters.

Finally there are the $10 tournaments. These cost $11 to enter. The pot gets $10 and the casino receives $1. The two game choices here are Goldbeard and Texan Tycoon.

Each one of these six online slots tournaments last for four hours each. One of those six starts every hour on the hour, giving players a lot more flexibility as to when and how often they can play in an online slots tournament.

The each entry fee gives players 10,000 tournament credits to spin the reels with. Those 10,000 credits have to be used within ten minutes, so wager hard and wager well. If a player is unhappy with how they did in the tournament, they can pay another entry fee and try again.

Rushmore Casino is powered by Real Time Gaming, the manufacturers of the Real Series of online slots. Rushmore is also proud to offer players so many opportunities to play in online slots tournaments at times that are most convenient to them, as opposed to building a schedule around a tournament. At Rushmore, players make the tournaments work around their schedules.

Rebuy vs. Continue Play

June 13th, 2011

Some online casinos have two different ways of handling when an online slots player runs out of or runs too low on money to continue playing in the tournament. Those two ways are rebuys and continue playing features. And knowing the difference is a slots tip that can help influence how you choose to play out a tournament.

On the surface both sound similar. They do allow you to play in the tournament so more right? Yes, they do but from different stand points.

Let’s take a look at rebuys first since they are more commonly crossed in online slots tournament play than the continue playing feature is.

Rebuys become available when an online slots player crosses the low threshold line established for a particular online slots tournament. At that point players can choose to pay a pre-established rebuy fee. That rebuy fee will reset the player’s status in the tournament. All previous standing, points and ranking on the leader board will be wiped out. The player is then given a new tournament balance to play with. Rebuys, in short, all online slots players to start over in the tournament. Think of it as being kind of like a reset option.

Now the continue playing feature should be fairly obviously. Once an online slots player crosses that aforementioned low threshold line they can choose the continue playing feature if it is available—and not all online casinos make it available.

Players pay the fee and their tournament balance is increased by a predetermined amount. The online slots player’s standing, points and position on the leader board is not reset like how it is in the case of a rebuy.

Two seemingly similar online slots tournament features, yet with two different outcomes. And two different price tags I imagine.

Friday Night Quickie Anyone?

May 20th, 2011

It is Friday, the night when people go out and unwind after a long work week. That being said, anyone up for a quickie?

Shame on you for thinking I meant THAT. I do not know where you got that idea; I was talking about the Quickie online slots tournament that is happening tonight at Go Casino.

For those of you who are not going out on the town tonight and are staying in Go Casino is giving online slots players the chance to make a quick buck. The Quickie slots tournament series happens every night of the week—well, not everyone needs a quickie the same night of the week.

The Quickie will get underway at 9 pm tonight and will run for two and a half hours, ending at 11 pm tonight. Two and a half hours definitely sums up quickie when you are talking about online slots tournaments.

Every Quickie tournament offers players the chance to win a portion of the $500 prize pool, which has a breakdown like so:

Prize 1: $100
Prize 2: $50
Prize 3: $31
Prize 4: $30
Prize 5: $28
Prize 6: $24
Prize 7: $21
Prize 8: $19
Prize 9: $17
Prize 10: $16

The prizes continue from Prize 11 at $15 to Prize 21 at $2.

Players can enter the Quickie by registering at Go Casino and paying an entry fee of $1.99. That $1.99 gives players a tournament balance of $100 to spin the reels of Vegas Technology’s La Fiesta online slots game. For any player who crosses the low balance threshold of $35, rebuys are available for $1.99, which will recharge a player’s tournament balance with $150.

Memorial Day Online Slots

May 17th, 2011

Mother’s Day is behind us. So is Friday the 13th. So what is up next on the holiday calendar for online casinos to celebrate with an online slots tournament?

Why, it is Memorial Day!

And before you ask, yes, some online casinos are hosting Memorial Day online slots tournaments. Not all, but some. One such online casino is VIP Slots, who finally updated their tournament schedule for this month but more on that in a bit.

I will say that VIP Slots is not being entirely fair in regards to their Memorial Day tournament. There is very little information about it but this should not be surprising since they are advertising this as an eMailer online slots tournament.

What is an eMailer tournament? It seems to be something new that VIP Slots is doing. While the basic information about the tournament is posted, the juicy details are found in an email sent from VIP Slots to their members. So if you get their emails, you are all set. But if you do not receive their emails you will have to sign up for a player account.

Here is what I do know, and what anyone new to VIP Slots can find out, the Memorial Day eMailer will begin on May 20th and end on May 31st spanning all of Memorial Day weekend. There is no entry fee for this tournament, effectively making it a freeroll tournament. The prize pool for this one is $7,500 cash to be split among the top placing players. That is. That is all I have.

But VIP’s tournament schedule taking so long to update—they changed their tournament interface. It might appear a bit daunting at first but it really is pretty simple. Find the tournament you want to check out and click on that tournament’s tabs to get its details and prize pool info, including how many players will receive each prize level. The update took a bit of time hence the delay in updating their schedule.

Prizes for Grand Slam of Slots II

May 16th, 2011

While online slots players in the US cannot participate in the Grand Slam of Slots II, I cannot help but write about the prizes. Hopefully the US government will one day have a change of heart in regards to, not just online poker, but online gambling as a whole.

But here is the deal. I will talk about the prizes that overseas online slots players are getting to compete for in Microgaming powered online casinos. Then US slots players should write to their congressmen and women and Senators expressing why they need to support online gambling in the future.

Someday, people, we will have a regulated online gambling market and then we can all play for $100,000 prizes.

And that $100,000 I just mentioned? That is only one prize in the Grand Slam of Slots II. In fact, that is the prize for the first place player. All of that $100,000 goes to first place with thousands of other dollars in cash prizes going to the other 289 top players in the Grand Slam of Slots II.

After the $100,000 first place prize, the top nine finishers in the tournament will still each receive a very hefty prize of their own, with amount that total more than entire monthly prize pools in regular online slots tournaments.

There is also a very prize in the Grand Slam of Slots II. It has nothing to do with how much you can spin from the reels or where you place on the leader board. For the player who lands every single prize combination of the slots game in the Grand Slam of Slots II, there is a $2.43 million’s worth of gold awaiting them.

So cross your fingers that the US will have a change of heart and that someday you will have the chance to win $2.43 million in gold.

Friday the 13th Slots Tournament

May 13th, 2011

Today is the day. Supposedly the most unlucky day in the world. So what are you going to do on the unluckiest day? How about play in an online slots tournament?

No, I am serious.

Go Casino is hosting an online slots tournament in honor of this delightfully unlucky pseudo holiday. The Friday the 13th tournament began at 8 am this morning, and will continue to run throughout today, ending at 8 pm tonight. Essentially a twelve hour tournament.

For an entry fee of only $0.66 players will be given $200 as a tournament balance to start out with to spin the reels of the Vegas Technology slots game Monster Money.

There is a low balance threshold, which is set at $35. At that point players can purchase a rebuy for $0.66, which will then give their tournament bankroll a recharge of $200. There is no limit on rebuys but they can only be made if the player’s tournament balance is below $35.

Players will be playing for the Pot, which at the time of this writing was $331.99. But that begs the question to be asked: Is Friday the 13th really that unlucky?

It must be in the world of online casinos and online slots. Only 288 players are signed up for this tournament, which is a bit odd considering it has such a low entry fee and is still awarding a cash prize even if it is only a pot prize. It is still cash.

Of course the number of participants could go up, but it is low considering that the tournament is already underway at Go Casino.

Online Slots and Spas

May 11th, 2011

Online slots players have the chance to win a spa day from playing in an online slots tournament at VIP Slots. So while they might not be doing anything for Friday the 13th, they more than make up for it with a spa day giveaway.

VIP Slots’ Win A Spa Day tournament began back on May 9th and will continue to run until 11:59 pm on Thursday, May 12th. While the first place player will win a day at a spa and a $1in bonus money, here is the breakdown of the $2,500 prize pool for the runner ups and how many will receive that particular prize:

Prize 1 (1): A day at a spa and $1 bonus money
Prize 2 (1): $250
Prize 3 (1): $125
Prize 4 (2): $75
Prize 5 (5): $50
Prize 6 (10): $25
Prize 7 (20): $10
Prize 8 (60): $5
Prize 9 (390): $2.50

All of those are real money prizes. Except for the spa and $1 of bonus money for first place.

Now considering the day at a spa for first place, the entry fee for this particular online slots tournament is higher than normal. Instead of the usual $5 or $10, the entry fee is $25. For that $25 entry fee, online slots players are given a $200 tournament balance to spin the reels of 5 Reel Wheel of Chance by Vegas Technology.

For players who need it from crossing the low balance threshold, rebuys are available for $5 each. Each rebuy will recharge players’ tournament balances with another $200 in tournament money.

There is still the rest of today and all of tomorrow to pop over to VIP Slots to register to play in their Win a Spa Day online slots tournament.

VIP Slots Superstitious?

May 11th, 2011

There is a Friday the 13th this month. In fact it is this coming Friday.

I made a rather interesting discovery while looking through the finally updated online slots tournaments at VIP Slots: There is no Friday the 13th tournament.

Other online casinos are hosting themed Friday the 13th tournaments. And why not? While it is not an official holiday or anything like that, it is a for-fun day that people play around with.

But nothing with using Friday the 13th as an excuse to host a special online slots tournament. Maybe VIP Slots is superstitious. It is not an unreasonable guess. After all, players of both slot online and slot machines can be highly superstitious to the point of wearing particular articles of clothing, keeping lucky totems on hand and even sprinkling the slots game with holy water. …I wonder if sprinkling my computer with holy water will make it invulnerable to viruses…

But to give some credit to VIP Slots, one of their weekly online slots tournaments begins on Friday the 13th. But then the Weekender tournaments always start on Fridays. So this week’s tournament is nothing out of the ordinary. It even has a regular online slots game from the Vegas Technology lineup: Hurdy Gurdy.

Now had it been my online casino and if I wanted to not host a Friday the 13th but still have a bit of fun with my online slots players, I would have used Monster Money from Vegas Technology instead. But then I do not own an online casino of my own.

The Weekender will begin on Friday the 13th at VIP Slots and will continue through May 15th. Players can enter for $5 and play for the Pot.

Slots Gearing Up for Cinco

May 2nd, 2011

Cinco is the popular short name for Cinco de Mayo, which is the fifth of May and popularly known as Mexico’s day of independence. And naturally online casinos have to celebrate it.

The funny thing is that May 5th is not really Mexico’s Independence Day. The real date is September 16th, but Cinco de Mayo has such a stronghold in the non-Mexican population that it is celebrated regardless with lots of drinking and some Mexican themed decorations. In fact, now Cinco de Mayo is treated as a drinking holiday with no real bearing on anything historical.

But that does not stop online casinos from creating online slots tournaments in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

Crazy Slots is one such online casino.

They are hosting a fourteen and a half hour long online slots tournament for Cinco de Mayo. The tournament begins at 9 am on May 5th and ends at 10:30 pm on the same day.

Since this is one of the casino’s holiday/special online slots tournaments, the entry is unconventional and reflects the holiday: $0.55 to enter. The less-than-a-dollar entry fee gives each player a $200 tournament balance. There are rebuys available for this tournament which are also $0.55 each and will reload a player’s tournament balance with another $200.

Going along with the Mexican theme of this online slots tournament, Crazy Slots is using the Vegas Technology online slots game La Cucaracha (yes, I have the song stuck in my head now too).

As for the prize pool of this Cinco de Mayo themed online slots tournament, players are playing for a portion of the pot. Considering the unique and low entry fee, playing for the pot is not unreasonable.

May Slots Kickoff

May 2nd, 2011

It is only the second day of May and already the online slots tournaments for this month are underway. Go Casino is kicking off the month right away with a May Kickoff online slots tournament.

The May Kickoff is a chance for online slots players to welcome in a new month, welcome spring and to try their luck at winning a portion of the $15,000 prize pool. The prize pool breakdown looks like this:

Prize 1: $4,000
Prize 2: $1,200
Prize 3: $500
Prize 4: $350
Prize 5: $300
Prize 6: $240
Prize 7: $200
Prize 8: $180
Prize 9: $170
Prize 10: $160
Prize 11: $140
Prize 12: $130
Prize 13: $120
Prize 14: $110
Prize 15: $100

The prizes continue on down to prize 29, which is for $3. Some prizes will be awarded multiple times to multiple players.

The May Kickoff began yesterday and will continue through to 10:30 pm on Friday, May 6th. Players can register up until 10:25 pm on the 6th however. At the time of this writing there were 211 participants with mattjr79 leading on the race with $12,044.79.

Players can enter the May Kickoff for $6.99. That entry fee gets you a tournament balance of $300. The low balance threshold is set at $35. If that low balance threshold is crossed, slots players can make rebuys for another $6.99 each. Each rebuy gives players another $300 added to their tournament balance.

As for the online slots game, Go Casino is using Vegas Technology’s Wheel of Chance, a popular five reel online slots game.

Players can register to play in the May Kickoff online slots tournament at Go Casino for their shot at a piece of the $15,000 prize pool.
