Bowling for Slots

September 30th, 2010

For the final new online slots game for the month of September I give you Rival Gaming’s newest iSlot: Bowled Over.

For those of you who also like to spend time at your local bowling alley, this new offering from Rival will be sure to please. I am not much of a bowler myself, but I do like what Rival has put together.

Bowled Over is a five reel, twenty payline iSlot, which means that somehow players are involved in the game more than clicking Spin. But like all iSlots this one is also loaded with features.

For starters there is the Guy Bowler. He is the jackpot symbol, so land five of him and you will find yourself with 3,000 more coins. If a Wild stands in for one of the Guy Bowlers the jackpot is doubled to 6,000 coins.

And speaking of that Wild, it is the Bowling Pin symbol. This Wild only appears on reels one and two, but it is an expanding Wild which increases your chances of having more winning combinations. And the Bowling Pins double any wins they make.

Like any good iSlot, this one does have a Scatter—two in fact. The first one is the Lady Bowler. Landing three or more of her will trigger the free spins. The number free spins are determined by the number Lady Bowlers landed:

3 = 10 free spins with a 2x multiplier
4 = 20 free spins with a 3x multiplier
5 = 40 free spins with a 4x multiplier

The other Scatter is the Bowling Ball. Landing three or more will trigger the Bowling Bonus Game. Players are then taken to this online slots game’s second screen for their interactive bonus, which is the hallmark of iSlots.

On this second screen players are prompted to choose their bowling champion—the guy or the lady. I will say that this is just a visual preference as neither one performs better than the other in the bonus game. The outcome is all up to you.

Using your mouse, you will then line the bowling ball up on the alley and then adjust the power of your bowler’s swing. You have two tries to knock down as many pins as you can. The more pins hit, the larger the bonus prize.

I have to say that Rival has created another successful iSlot. It is easy to play but the extra interaction increases the fun of this new online slots game.

Alice and Her Promotions

September 30th, 2010

One of the new online slots games to be released by Ash Gaming this month is their new five reel, twenty payline game Alice’s Wonderland. And today it launches at Virgin Casino.

I know, they wait until the last day of September to launch a new online slots game. Well, think of it this way: it will not be long until we hear what they are launching next.

For whatever reason, Virgin is allowed to offer special promotions and features for new online slots games that other software developers’ partner casinos do not. I suspect this is because, while most online casinos only partner with one software developer, Virgin is partnered with several, including one of the industry leaders, Microgaming.

So what is Virgin doing for its launch of Alice’s Wonderland?

For starters they are offering a progressive jackpot that is exclusive to their casino. This progressive can be randomly triggered in the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party bonus game, through the Rabbit Hole or in the free spins.

Product Manager Warren Eloff said, “This exclusive jackpot is our way of rewarding [players] for their loyalty as there is one guarantee—this jackpot will be won by a Virgin Casino player.”

On top of the exclusive progressive jackpot, Virgin is also offering some 3D prizes:

10 webcams with 3D glasses
1 Fuji Finepix Real W1 camera
1 home theater system with the ‘Alice in Wonderland’ DVD in 3D with 3D glasses

Players are eligible to win one of those prizes if they wager £20 on the new online slots game. Players will also receive an additional entry for the drawing for every £20 they deposit on Alice’s Wonderland.

And so Virgin is doing it again, offering exclusive prizes to reward their players in the big way that only Virgin has.

Word on Malta Online Casinos

September 29th, 2010

While this news is not directly related to online slots, it does have an impact on where you play your online slots games.

It was recently discovered that online casinos whose licenses come from Malta do not have any legal obligation to pay winnings to players. This is because Maltese law says that gambling debts are not enforceable.

So Maltese licensed online casinos are not under law required to pay their players.

To me this is a big problem. What is the point of playing online casino games, such as our beloved online slots, if we are not going to be paid when we win?

How did this story come to light?

Back in 2008 a German player at Casino Club won the equivalent of $228,318 in a jackpot on a video poker online game. First casino staff tried to convince him to just keep playing and not withdraw his winnings.

Then his account was closed for security reasons and his winnings confiscated because they believed he had won the jackpot illegally. The gentleman then contacted the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, the regulating body of gaming in Malta. That is when he was informed that Maltese law does not enforce gambling debts.

But I am willing to bet that if a patron owed a casino money that debt would be enforced.

To go along with being told that Maltese law would not make Casino club pay him his winnings, the gentleman then was informed that he was under suspicion of unspecified fraud involving the use of robot program, abusing bonus offers and having more than one player account.

All this after playing at Casino Club for a few years.

The German player in question was told by his lawyer that the only way this could be settled would be to take his case to the Maltese courts. But between their law making gambling debts unenforceable and the slogan of the LGA being “Advocate of Fair Play Since 1998,” I doubt that justice will be found.

As for his winnings, the German player’s winnings are said to be going back into the game’s jackpot for someone else to win. But do you really think that player would be paid their winnings?

So online slots players, it might be wise to avoid playing in Maltese licensed online casinos for the time being.

Slots—the Sirens of the Casinos

September 29th, 2010

Of all of the casino games that can be found in brick and mortar casinos, slot machines are the ones players have the least control over in terms of slots strategy.

What lures players to slot machines? And, yes, they do indeed lure them. It comes from knowing that this is an easy casino game to play. There is also all of the bright flashing lights and the sounds and then the sounds of payouts. And do not forget the carrot held above your head that you could win a massive jackpot and change your life.

Those qualities are what make slot machines the sirens of the casinos—they will lure you in and take your money.

Which is the purpose of slot machines. The built in house edge is stacked against the players, and as a game of chance, there really is not a strategy available that will allow players to have a direct impact on the outcome of a spin.

But there is one aspect that players can control. No, I am not saying tie yourself to something to keep you away from slots like how Odysseus did to not be caught by the sirens. Think of this as a way of controlling yourself around the sirens.

You can control your speed, or rate of play, on a slot machine. Slowing down how fast you are pounding Spin. The more you spin the reels, the more opportunities the house has to take your money from you.

Following that line of logic, the less times you hit Spin and the fewer rounds you play in an hour the less opportunities the house has to take your money.

I know how it is, the lights and the sounds—it is exciting and easy to get carried away. But for the sake of what you can call a slots strategy, slow down and limit how many times you spin the reels in an hour.

Paradise in a Slots Game

September 28th, 2010

Find your own little piece of paradise in another new online slots game from Vegas Technology.

This new five reel, twenty five payline online slots game is called Paradise Riches and features an exotic summery beach theme. This comes across in the Dolphins, Coconuts, Island Drinks and other tropically oriented symbols.

While it does not carry all of the bonus features that Vegas Technology’s other new online slots game, Agent Cash, does Paradise Riches does not come to players empty handed.

There is only one Wild in Paradise Riches, but it is a Wild that pays. When substituting for any symbol other than the Scatter, there is a 3x multiplier on any winning combination that the Hula Girl helps to complete.

On top of the 3x multiplier, the Hula Girl will also payout a 10,000 coin jackpot for landing five of her on the reels.

The Tropical Flower is the Scatter in Paradise Riches. Players need only land a minimum of two to be awarded a Scatter payout.

But three or more Tropical Flowers will trigger the free spins feature. Twelve free spins are awarded and each free spins has a multiplier of 3x on it. As another little bonus, players can retrigger the free spins as long as all twenty five paylines are active.

The cost of a spin on Paradise Riches starts at $0.25 ($0.01 per payline) and goes up as high as $125 ($5 per payline) per spin. This range makes this a good online slots game for a high roller or basic player or someone who is just looking for some relaxing slots play in paradise.

Vegas Technology has done a good job in creating a new online slots game to gives off a relaxing feeling while at the same time giving players a good game.

High Limit Room Slots or Not?

September 28th, 2010

Almost any brick and mortar casino has a high limit room. Players of slot machines know that there are slot machines in that high limit room. These machines usually are $5 per spin if not more. But there are also $5 slot machines on the regular casino floor as well.

This leads players to wondering if there is a difference between the two slot machines. Some believe that the $5 slot machines in the high limit room have a better payout percentage, a higher one than those on the regular casino floor.

This is one of those slots myths.

While I cannot say for sure 100%, it is unlikely that there is going to be a significant difference between the $5 slot machines in the high limit room and the $5 machines on the regular casino floor.

The reason for this is that the people in casinos that manage the slot machines, called slot directors, are the ones who order the casino’s slot machines. When they order them they tend to order slot machines with the nearly the same payout percentage as the other slot machines in that denomination.

This means that when a slot director orders $5 slot machines, in this instance, he or she will order them all with nearly the same payout percentage regardless if the slot machine’s final destination is the high limit room or the regular casino floor.

I believe this slots myth is something that is perpetuated by the casinos, perhaps not directly, but they certainly do not mind players being lured into the high limit rooms and being tempted to play other high limit casino games.

It is best to keep in mind as a bit of slots strategy that there is no significant difference between the payout percentages of the slot machines on the floor versus those in the high limit rooms.

New Slots with a New Casino

September 27th, 2010

Last week the ThoughtLink Ltd launched a new online casino. This new online casino of theirs is powered by Rival Gaming, maker of the ever popular iSlots. The name of this new online casino? It is Spartan Slots Casino.

Despite the spare name of this new online casino, it is being launched with an out pouring of money. This includes a $5,000 Welcome Bonus Package made up of a 100% deposit match bonus worth up to $1,000, a second deposit match bonus of 2005 worth up to $400, and topping it off are four reload deposit match bonuses of 150% making up the remaining $3,600.

But the real push of this new online casino is the special four new online slots games that Rival Gaming made especially for the Spartan Slots Casino. These four new slots games are called: Diamonds Down Under, Best of Luck, Aussie Rules and, to go along with the new online casino’s name, Spartan Warrior.

And like the majority of online casinos in the industry, Spartan Slots is also offering progressive online slots games with progressive jackpots. No word yet on whether these new progressive jackpots are linked to any of Spartan’s sister casinos or not as most online casinos are prone to do.

ThoughtLink Ltd. is also the owner of other online casinos, such as Box 24. Their online casinos are like flip flops, easy to get into and fun to use. Between their welcome bonuses and their exclusive online slots games this new online casino will be a nice addition to the ThoughtLink Ltd. family.

Slots Bonuses and Pre-Paid Gift Cards

September 27th, 2010

With restrictions on how U.S. players can deposit money to their player accounts, some online casinos are looking for other deposit methods that can help make depositing a little easier for U.S. players. And some will offer up slot bonuses to entire players to use them.

One such way is pre-paid gift cards. These little cards allow players to put a balance onto the gift card. They can then deposit money from the gift card to their player account so that the money does not seem to be coming straight from a financial institution.

Some online casinos accept the pre-paid gift cards, most notably several of the Vegas Technology online casinos, which do accept U.S. players.

Crazy Slots in particular not only accepts pre-paid gift cards, they also offer players a slots bonus.

The first time a player uses a pre-paid gift card to deposit money to their player account, they receive a 100% deposit match bonus. This bonus is worth up to $600. So for the player who deposits $600 using a pre-paid gift card, she will receive another $600 from Crazy Slots.

Naturally players need a coupon code in order to receive this slots bonus. For the first pre-paid gift card deposit players need to enter ZY035 in the cashier section of the online casino.

But the slots bonuses do not stop there. After that first slots bonus, players can continue to receive more slots bonuses for using a pre-paid gift card. Every time a player uses one, they can receive a 10% deposit match bonus worth up to $100.

Cray Slots is definitely giving players a good reason to use pre-paid gift cards to deposit money to their player accounts. Free money in a slots bonus is still free money.

Online Slots Tournament Late Night

September 24th, 2010

What is the best way for an online slots player to keep themselves entertained in the early hours of the morning?

An online slots tournament that is especially for all of those late night people!

And Go Casino has just the online slots tournament series to fill that need. They host their Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament every night, or morning depending on how you view time, of the week. That means that there is always some late night online slots action out there for night owl slots players.

It is also offers a chance to play and even win an online slots tournament that most players will not play in simply because they are asleep. True, less participation means less in the Pot to win, but it also increases a player’s chances of winning the Pot.

Each Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament begins at 12:30 am and runs through 8:30 am every day. So there is no single night, or morning, that leaves an online slots player without a late night thrill.

This month seven online slots games created by the ever popular Vegas Technology have been selected to be used in this online slots tournament series, one for each night of the week:

Monday: Winter Wonderland
Tuesday: Parrot Party
Wednesday: Tiki Lounge
Thursday: Northern Lights
Friday: Butterflies

And the weekend night, or morning, offerings are:

Saturday: Fire Hawk
Sunday: Eastern Dragon

Players who are interested in the Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament series only need to register at Go Casino and pay the $2.99 entry fee to receive their 250 tournament credits; rebuys are $2.99.

Mermaid’s Quest Online Slots Review

September 24th, 2010

Under the sea themes are quite common for online slots games. It seems that every software manufacturer of online casino games has created at least one—yes, there are some software providers who have created more than one.

Today we are going to take a look at the under the sea themed offering from Vegas Technology: Mermaid’s Quest.

Vegas Technology is one of the newer software providers in the online casino game industry. But just because they are new does not mean they are not good. In 2005 they won Top New Casino Software in a reader’s poll in Gambling Online Magazine.

So just because they are a newer software provider does not mean they are not capable of producing quality online slots games.

In fact, Mermaid’s Quest is one of their highest rated online slots games. This is because, with only eight paylines, it is an easy to understand game with a profitable bonus game. And we all know how much online slots players like their bonus games.

Naturally all of the graphics and symbols are of creatures that live under the sea and include the Mermaid, King Neptune and a Treasure Chest.

That bonus game I mentioned is triggered by landing at least three of the Mermaids. Players are then taken over to a second screen pick-your-prize bonus game for what is considered a strong bonus game when compared to how simple the regular play is.

There are also free spins in this online slots game. These ten free spins with a 2x multiplier are triggered when three King Neptunes are landed.

Naturally there is a wild in Mermaid’s Quest as well: the Treasure Chest. While it does not have a multiplier on it, it does offer a rather large 10,000 jackpot for landing five of them on an active payline.

Mermaid’s Quest is a fine online slots game offering from Vegas Technology, and it continues to be one of that software provider’s highest rated online slots game.
