Fun Under the Sea with Mermaid’s Quest Slots

January 29th, 2010

If you are looking for another world to play in Mermaid’s Quest from Vegas Technology offers an alternative from food and money themed slots games. This is five reel is a light and delightful slots game. The graphics are on the cute side with bright colors and all are animated.

Mermaid’s Quest departs from the norm of slots games by only having nine paylines though. This makes wagering a larger amount per line a little easier, and in turn makes the amount of your winnings a little larger per win.

And speaking of wager amounts, players can wager anywhere from $0.01 up to $10 per payline. This makes your maximum bet $90 per spin. Or it can be as little as $0.09 per spin. The jackpot for Mermaid’s Quest is 10,000 coins.

There are three symbols to be on the look out for in this game: the Mermaid, King Neptune and the Treasure Chest.

The Treasure Chest is the Wild under the sea. It will substitute for any symbol other than the King Neptune and the Mermaid. It also has the best payout after King Neptune: landing five Treasure Chests will multiple your wager by 10,000.

King Neptune is the Scatter symbol here. He does two things for players. Landing three of him will trigger ten free spins, and landing more of him will trigger more free spins. But also during these free spins, your winnings will be doubled. But King Neptune also acts as the Multiplier. Depending on how many of him you land will determine how much your total wager is multiplied by: 1x, 10x, 100x or 1000x.

With plenty of options to win, Mermaid’s Quest is worth a trip under the sea.

Over the Speed Limit for Slots?

January 29th, 2010

One of the things that we all love about online slots is how easy they are to play. Choose your game, choose the number of paylines and how much you are betting per payline. After that it is simply a matter of clicking on Spin.

But with the ease of play offered by slots games, there is the small problem of relaxing and not paying as much attention as we should have. This will manifest when we wind up clicking Spin faster and faster, and not allowing much time between spins. We do this without even realizing it. We start out with maybe four spins a minute and before we know it we are up to six or seven spins a minute.

While two or three more spins a minute does not sound like a lot per minute, take a look at the money. Let’s say that you are playing an online slots game with twenty five paylines and are wagering $0.05 per line. That is $1.25 per spin. If you are doing four spins per minute you are only wagering $5 per minute. But as you begin to lose focus and begin spinning faster you will spin more. Going from four spins in the above scenario to seven per minute means that you have gone from $5 per minute to $8.75.

What these increased number of spins per minute do is cause you to run through your bankroll faster.

To cut down on running through your bankroll too fast there are a couple of things that you can try. You can start spinning at a moderate pace and count the number of spins per minute that you are making. Then keep counting your number of spins per minute to avoid speeding up.

If that seems too boring or taxing then make yourself take breaks every so often. Maybe a ten or fifteen minute break for every hour of play. That way if you find that you are spinning faster than when you began playing, you can account for that by taking a break.

Slots are a complete game of chance. The only thing that you can control is how much you are betting per line and how many lines you are playing. And how fast you are spinning. So preserve your bankroll and slow down and enjoy the game.

Fill Up on Chinese Food and Slots

January 28th, 2010

Do you find yourself up late? Or hungry and not in the mood to cook? And during all of that you want to play some slots.

Thanks to Realtime Gaming you can fill up on Chinese and slots at the same time. They have released a five reel online slots game with twenty five paylines called Wok and Roll. The graphics are very well done to showcase the Asian themed and smooth animation. Overall there is a light and fun feeling here. And no MSG.

The symbols in Wok and Roll are on the cuter and funny side of animation. But they feature various Chinese foods, like fortune cookies, tea, dumplings, fish, shrimp fried rice. There are Chinese take-out boxes, chopping knives, restaurant fronts and the Chef himself.

The Chef is the Wild symbol, substituting for any symbol other than the Scatter. If you land five of him you will be awarded a 5,000 coin bonus offered by Wok and Roll. But landing three of him will trigger ten free spins.

But do not forget an order of the Wok and Roll logo symbols for they are the Scatters. Three of them will trigger eight free spins in which you can multiple your winnings by two to ten times.

Wok and Roll also offers two random jackpots. The smaller of the two is worth $250. But the larger one is worth $1000; but every time it hits $1,000 it will reset.

Given all the ways to win, this slots game is bound to become popular at Realtime powered online casinos. Fortune cookie say you have winnings in your future.

Slots Game Hits Three Times in One Week

January 28th, 2010

It seems that there is an online slots game that is pretty hot right now. In less than seven days it has paid out $60, 441 in winnings to three players.

The first winner won $14,257 six days ago. A couple days later another player won $18,268. And then, this past Tuesday, yet another player won $27,916.

All this money from one slots game: Microgaming’s Cash Splash.

This is a progressive online slots game that comes in two formats, a three reel and a five real. Both versions can be a part of the progressive jackpot.

All a player has to do to have a chance at winning that progressive jackpot is wager the maximum amount for that version of Cash Splash. For the three real version this means three coins; and for the five reel it means fifteen coins. Wager that and you are in the running.

Cash Splash is often viewed as a good transitional slots game for those who are going from playing three reel slots to five reel. This is because Microgaming kept the symbols simple between the two versions. There are those that are common to three reel games such as the BAR, 7s and cherries. But there are also those symbols that are common to five reels such as a logo symbol, numbers, kings, queens and piles of money.

Another good point for transitioning is that this slots game has a fixed betting feature. In the case of the five reel game, new players only have to decide how many paylines they want to have active rather than figure out how much to bet for each line, making this slots game more inviting for new players.

But in order to be in the running for the progressive jackpot, players must wager the maximum amount.

With Cash Splash being such a wonderful transitioning game from three to five reels, it makes having a chance at winning the progressive jackpot possible for players that are new to five reels.

Cash Splash can be found at most of the online casinos that are powered by Microgaming, such as All Slots. Stop by one and start playing Cash Splash and see if you might be the next jackpot winner.

The Kentucky Derby is Coming to a Slots Game

January 27th, 2010

For those with a deep love of both the Kentucky Derby and slots games, your game has come in. Or it will be on May 1st.

Aristocrat Technologies, Inc. has joined with Churchill Downs to create a new slots game that carries a Kentucky Derby theme. The game was announced at the end of last year, but will not be launched until just shortly before the 136th running of the Kentucky Derby.

Racinos, horse tracks that also host banks of slots machines, may find a nice draw to this one. This slots game is to hole all the excitement of the world famous horse race, but will be played out in the thrill of a slots game. Players will have two base games to choose from to play out: Run for the Roses and Oaks Day.

Other than the two theme bases for the new slots game, the only other details that have been released is that the slots will be designed and structured to give players the thrill of being a part of the race. Players will be playing through with the aim of winning a four-level interactive jackpot. This jackpot has a Hyperlink trigger. And that this will be a five reel game.

Both companies are excited about the opportunity to combine the Kentucky Derby with a slots game. Aristocrat seems to be a fine choice to design the new game. They are known for creating simple slot machines known for their low denomination, multi-coin and multiple payline games. Without all the razzle dazzle, players of Aristocrat slot machines get to focus on the game and winning.

Look to hear more about the Kentucky Derby themed slots game as the May 1st race gets closer.

Tetris Meets Slots?

January 26th, 2010

I was cruising around the internet today, and I saw that Wagerworks has launched a new “slots” game. I use quotations because I am not sure that it can be called a slots game.

What makes a slots game a slots game? What do you think of when yea hear the words ‘slots game?’

My first thought is reels. To me, a slots game must have reels. And reels are the core of a slots game. They are what makes the game what it is. The whole point of a slots game is to put money in, activate the game, and then watch the reels spin to see what lands on a payline. And if something does you win.

The key factor of a slots game is the reels. Otherwise it would not be a slots game.

Apparently, Wagerworks thinks otherwise.

Their latest game, Slotbox, does not have reels. At all. But it has boxes.

The way that this “slots” game is played begins with players making their wagers and activating the game. So far, this is similar to a real slots game. But when the game begins, boxes begin falling from the top of the screen into the playing grid. They move left to right (no turning or rotating), but not by through the player’s control. Rather the part of the game’s programming that controls the random factor—much like an RNG—moves the boxes for the player.

If the boxes, through no player control at all, create rows the player will then win a payout. The more rows that are formed the more payouts they receive. The game is over once no more rows can be formed.

And to me, that sounds an awful lot like Tetris, but a worse form of it. At least in Tetris you can control where the shapes go and can turn and rotate them.

I would not begin to call this a slots game since it does not actually have reels.

Deciphering Slots Payback Percentages

January 26th, 2010

When trying to decide what slots game to play, we will often consider its payback percentage. But do you really know what the payback percentage sign or posting means?

First let me define what a payback percentage is so that you understand the first thing such signs are saying. The payback percentage tells you how much a machine, a game, a bank of machines, or an online casino returns to players as winnings. The other portion of the payback percentage is the casino’s profit.

If you see a payback percentage of 94%, it means that it will payout 94% of the money put into it while the casino profits the other 6%. Using numbers, it means that if a thousand dollars was taken in, $940 would be paid out to players and $60 is profited by the casino. Obviously a lot more than $1000 is played at any one game or online casino.

But payout percentages can be presented in a few different ways. If you see a sign posted in a casino that is not associated with any particular bank of slots or see an online casino’s payout percentage in a review, it is the average of that casino or online casino. It does not mean that every single game will payout that percent. Some will payout less and some more, but most will fall in the middle.

An average like that has taken into consideration all the wagers from all their games. Bear that in mind when checking out what a casino or online casino’s payout percentage is.

In land-based casinos you might see a sign above a bank of slots giving the payout percentage. This means, by most state regulations, that all the slots machines in that bank have the advertised payout percentage.

But the one to be wary of is a sign above a bank of slots that says “Up to X% payout percentage.” This usually means that at least one machine has that percentage, but the others do not.

The thing to keep in mind when considering a payout percentage is what that percentage describes. Ask yourself whether it is for only one game, a bank of slots, one machine in a bank, or the whole casino or online casino. Taking the time to read and process what a payout percentage sign is actually saying could cost you from making even more costly mistakes.

For example, you would rather play at a machine where the whole bank is the advertised percentage, rather than in a bank where only one machine has the advertised percentage but you do not know which one.

The last thing to keep in mind about payout percentages is that there is no set time or set number of spins that the slots game must go through before releasing the jackpot. Slots are a game of chance. There is no predicting them. So you could keep playing a high percentage machine and not see any payback since there is no required number of spins or set time between jackpots being rewarded.

Slots Quest for Aztec’s Treasure

January 25th, 2010

When you were a child, did you ever hunt for buried treasure? Or imagine finding a treasure map that would lead you to a wealth of riches?

Unfortunately most of us grow up not fulfilling these imaginings.

But Realtime Gaming is giving it back to us. They are the makers of Aztec’s Treasure, a five reel, twenty payline online slots game. This has all the hallmarks of a Realtime slots game right down to the vibrant colors—which are absolutely necessary to bring about the essence of Mexico. Symbols here include an Aztec princess, a jaguar, a bird-like priest, an Aztec god and an Aztec king.

And that Aztec King is royal figure of power. He is the Wild symbol, assuming the role of any symbol, other than the Scatter. But he only rules from the second, third and fourth reels.

But it is the Aztec God in whose presence you should want to be in. He is the Scatter symbol. Land three, four or five of him and he will bestow on you five, fifteen or twenty five free spins respectively.

He is a generous deity as well. If during your free spins, he makes more appearances you will be awarded a bonus prize based on the amount of your triggering bet. And if one, two, three, four or five more Aztec Gods appear on the reels, you will win one, two, five, fifteen or twenty five more free spins. What’s more is that your winnings, other than the ones won in the Scatter bonus, are tripled.

With bonus features and free spins such as these, it is no wonder that this has become one of the hottest games released by Realtime. It can be found at most Realtime powered online casinos, such as Cherry Red. This is a quest for treasure that just might be yours for the taking.

Playtech Returning to the US?

January 25th, 2010

Then the Bush Administration put the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) into effect, many in the online casino industry considered the United States a lost cause. It was doomed they claimed. Stock stakes were sold for way less than they were bought with and everyone assumed that would be the end of it for US players.

But with the recession hitting the US pretty hard, state governments are left trying to fill in the gaps in their state budgets. Otherwise programs and education will suffer, and state employees could be laid off, further contributing to a harsh economy.

So what is a state to do?

Many are beginning to turn their heads towards online gambling whereas a few years ago many were turning their noses up at it.

And the online gambling industry is beginning to look at America with happy eyes as states consider opening their online gambling markets back up. UIGEA it seems did give the states the option to take matters into their own hands.

Playtech is near the front of those in the online gambling industry eyeing the US. They have made a deal with Scientific Games Corporation. The deal was viewed as a positive response on Playtech’s part that the US gambling market may very well open up. As a result Playtech’s rose 11% this past Thursday when the deal was announced.

While short term effects will most likely be minimal, the long term looks good if the US unthaws its anti-online gambling ways. And with revenue greatly needed by the states, Playtech has positioned themselves very near the front for when states open their gambling markets.
