Playtech Lineup for Next Year

December 30th, 2009

Playtech gaming software provider is gearing up for 2010 with four new online slots games. There are four reported new games, all to feature Marvel comics characters. This past year saw the release of Iron Man and Hulk themed slots. These new slots games will join those two in the early part of 2010.

Playtech’s new slots games will feature the X-Men, Elektra, the Fantastic Four and Blade. All four games offer players the chance for big wins through regular play, mystery bonus rounds and four stage progressive jackpots—all said to pay out very well. Players can seek exciting wins alongside their favorite marvel superheroes.

The X-Men will be a five reel slots game with twenty five pay lines. This slots game will offer a 10,000 coin jackpot in the base level of the game with bonus rounds and free spins with an 8x multiplier. Playtech has given this slots game’s call to fame is its X-feature that allows players to win five times their total bet.

The Fantastic Four slots game will have plenty of features to keep players entertained. This will be a five reel with twenty pay lines. Like the X-Men slots game, this one will also feature a 10,000 coin jackpot in the base level of the game. But this game will also have five bonus rounds, free spines with a 12x multiplier, scatter wilds, expanding wilds and freezing wilds. Playtech has made this slots game is all about the number four: there will also be four special spins with four additional bonus features.

Details on the Blade slots game haven’t been released yet.

SuperSlots Brings in New Year with a Showdown

December 30th, 2009

What better way for fans of the spinning reels to ring in the New Year than to the sound of a winning jackpot?

Ever since December 30th, SuperSlots Casino has been hosting a Countdown to 2010 tournament. The first four rounds had a combined prize pool of $40,000, each round worth $10,000.

Now SuperSlots and its tournament players are down to the final round of the Countdown to 2010—the showdown. In this last round the top 200 players from the first four rounds of the tournament will be playing until midnight on December 31st—right up until the ball drops.

The slots game that is being used for the final showdown is Vegas Party which is so appropriate for a tournament surrounding one of the biggest parties of the year. Vegas Party is a five reel game with images that we have all come to associate with Vegas: beautiful women, dice, drinks and nice cars and twenty five lines to play with.

Of the two hundred finalists only one will get to take home the grand prize of $20,100—what a way to start the New Year off.

The next top four players will each receive $2,010. The next sixty players will all place third and win $201. So sixty five players will get a nice start to 2010.

This type of tournament, featuring four rounds and a showdown, attests to SuperSlots offering an exciting tournament experience for online slots players. New players are offered a 100% deposit match worth up to $300. SuperSlots is licensed and regulated out of Antigua, and is owned by the English Harbour New Ventures Group.

Slots for a Better Wall Street

December 29th, 2009

We have all heard about Wall Street and how it is not presenting a pretty picture right now, even after the holidays.

But what if there was a Wall Street where all was good and you actually made some money rather than losing it?

Such a Wall Street exists!

Wall Street Fever by Playtech is a five reel, five pay line slots game that is, of course, themed with Wall Street. Images include stock brokers, dollar signs, cell phones and computers. All the hustle of Wall Street is at your finger tips.

But the best aspect of this particular slots game is it makes a payout about every twenty one days. The last payout was $220,335 awarded during the Christmas season. But total this slots game has paid out $1.86 million this year.

Some other features from the Wall Street Fever slots game:

There is a fixed coin denomination of ten cents ($.10). With five pay lines at ten cents to activate each line, one spin only costs fifty cents ($.50). For only fifty cents you have the chance of winning one of Wall Street Fever’s payouts.

There are also free spins to be won on this slots game. Actually there are fifty free spins that you can earn. And on top of that, free spins can be retriggered in this slots game. There is also a second screen bonus game to top it all off.

You can see where ‘fever’ comes from in its name. This is defiantly a Wall Street that paints a more enjoyable picture.

Online Slots Easier Than Regular Slots Machines

December 29th, 2009

While software providers can try and try, there is no top notch recreation of the casino floor atmosphere. Yes, online casinos will have flashing graphics and casino sounds, but those graphics and sounds do not wrap around you to give you that heady casino-floor feeling. And there are other things land based casinos offer that online casinos cannot give simply because sometimes you just have to be there. There is no social interaction, comps, buffet, shows and free drinks that casinos offer. So most would think that land based casinos are better, right?

Maybe. But if you are a slots player you might actually consider online casinos a better place to play.

For starters, you are not carrying around a bucket of coins or slots tickets. Coins can be lost or stolen. Same applies for slots tickets. Yes, they are much easier to carry but if you leave a slot machine and forget it, you can pretty much assume that someone else will pick it up and redeem it for themselves.

Playing slots online has the benefit of no coins or slots tickets to worry about losing or having stolen. All of your money is stored electronically in your player account—which only you have the password to.

As for the argument that online casinos do not provide the social interaction that land based casinos offer, how many of you slots players sit and talk with other players? While you may a little, I’ve seen that most slots players are very focused on their slot machines. Slots players tend to hone in on their game, very intent on watching the reels, waiting for that big win. Playing slots online is not much different, except that you are honed in on your computer screen rather than a machine.

Playing slots online can offer you more security without losing the feel of the game. Online slots games’ results still come from a Random Number Generator (RNG), so there is no difference there. And there are a seemingly infinite variety of slots themes to choose from.

Vegas Technology Launches New Slots Games

December 28th, 2009

The end of December sees Vegas Technology releasing three new slots games. Other gambling software providers released new slots games at the end of December, but their games all featured Christmas themes to try to grab players’ attention around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. This is unfortunate since they are likely to lose their appeal once the holidays have passed.

Thankfully the new will not wear off the new Vegas Technology games as easily since they are free of Christmas images. The new slots games are Tarot Treasure, Beat the Bank and Ja Man.

Tarot Treasure
This is a five reel that will have you playing with fortune-telling gypsies on the screen. Perhaps your fortune includes winning the jackpot of up to 10,000 coins. Or maybe free spins or some plays on the second screen bonus. It is all in the cards!

Beat the Bank
Who’s up for a bank heist? If you are, be sure to take this new slots game for a spin. This five reel slots game offers some great graphics and features that include fifteen free spins, 3x multiplier and a second screen bonus game. Or you just might end up with the 5,000 coin jackpot. So grab your nerve and hit the bank!

Ja Man
Does cold weather have you down? Vegas Technology has just the slots game for you: Ja Man. A laid-back island is host to this slots game, featuring free spins and 10x multipliers. Take the edge off your winter chill with this five reel slot.

Look for all three of these new slots games at Online Vegas and Millionaire Casino, two of the online casinos selected to feature these exciting new slots.

Loophole Allows North Carolina Slots Players to Play In State

December 28th, 2009

While online gambling has been declared illegal by the United States Government, each of the fifty states is open to interrupt the finer points of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

North Carolina has decided to work with the loopholes, slots players!

Internet cafes will be allowed to have online gambling, which will be comprised of slots games and video poker. And a judge has told authorities to leave these internet cafes alone, that it is okay for them to operate on the edge of the points of UIGEA.

So, slots players, if you are in North Carolina or near it, head on over for some almost for fun slots.

Yes, almost for fun. UIGEA and North Carolina State Law does not allow for gambling for cash. Instead slots players in these internet casinos can play for incentives, which can include free computer or phone time at these cafes.

I know, it is not really slots if you cannot win a cash jackpot. But let’s consider this a step in the right direction—at least North Carolina is allowing slots in some form.

But there are always more loopholes. This time it is the internet cafes that found the loophole. While they cannot offer straight up cash prizes, some of the prizes they are offering can be traded for cash or other types of gifts. Basically the first prize that an online slots player will be handed will not be cash, but you will be able to trade your prize. Once it is your prize you may do with it as you see fit—after all, trading something you now own is not gambling.

It seems that, at least in North Carolina, this is how online slots will be unless the Federal government decides to step in and legalize and regulate online gambling, something they might consider once they see how much money can be made from taxing online gambling. They need the revenue and we want the online games.

How Slot Machines Can be Random Yet Hold a Percentage

December 23rd, 2009

Slot machines, both online and in land based casinos are equipped with a Random Number Generators (RNG). What an RNG does is create and outcome for each round that slot machine is played. And yet, a slot machine or an online slots game has a payout percentage. How can it be random and hold a certain payout percentage at the same time?

This is a question asked by many slots players. And, yes, it does seem a bit mind boggling when one stops to think about it.

An RNG is programmed with an outcome pool from which it will draw an outcome. The jackpot outcome will only come up a certain percentage of the time, although no one knows when it will.

Let me break this down into an analogy that is easier to understand.

Let’s say that you have a bag with twenty marbles in it. You have ten red marbles, six blue ones and four purple ones. Now, without looking, draw a marble out of the bag, record what color it is and return it to the bag. Repeat. Repeat again. And keep repeating. Even though you don’t know which times you will draw a red marble, you will draw a red one about half of the time since half of the twenty marbles are red.

This is how slot machines and online slots games maintain a certain payout percentage while also remaining random.  There are X number of combinations that will win nothing, X number will win a little and X number will win the big jackpot. If there are 100 outcomes but only five of those outcomes will win the jackpot, then a slots player has a 5% chance of winning that jackpot, but there’s no telling when that outcome will come up.

Obviously slot machines and online slots games have more than 100 outcomes, but you get the idea. The point is that there is not telling which outcome will come up, just that it will come up X% of the time based on how many winning outcomes there are versus the total number of outcomes.

Calling Sex in the City Fans! Your Slots Game is Here.

December 23rd, 2009

It seems all of our favorite movies and TV shows will be developed into slots games.

Fans of both slots and Sex in the City have cause to rejoice. There is now a multi-line slot machine whose theme centers around the series. It will feature Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, Charlotte, and the ever popular Mr. Big.  And what lady would pass up the chance to play with Mr. Big?

This slot machine will use International Game Technology’s (IGT) MultiPlay format, allowing for up to four games to be played at once. There are 30 pay lines per game, which makes a total of 120 pay lines if you are playing all four games.

But the betting can get pretty steep with 120 pay lines. In order to activate all the pay lines in all four games, you would have to wager 200 credits. And if you are one of those players who tend to Bet Max, which is 3 credits per line, you would be wagering 600 credits. All for one spin. So this slots game can add up quickly if you are not watching.

IGT has also given this slots game their MegaJackpots feature. Considering that slots players can be quite dedicated to trying to snag those bonus rounds, slots machines with bonus rounds, such as those found in IGT’s MegaJackpots machines,  have become quite the cash crop on casino floors. So it is no surprise that this slot machine, expected to a popular choice, will feature not one, but four bonus games.

Meet the bonus games:

Simply Fabulous! is designed to allow slots players to choose how many bonus credits they receive by opening the on-screen jewelry boxes, which will reveal up to a four digit number that turns into bonus credits.

The Perfect Present bonus game will place up to fifteen presents on the reels. These presents can transform into scatter plays that can yield bonus credit payoffs.

Hello Lover! features five free spins. One of the symbols is locked, staying in place during the spins. That locked symbol helps to increase the chances of hitting a big win.

Change of Dress though could prove to be the most entertaining for players. Slots players choose a character from the series and then simply change her clothes. Changing her clothes will give players bonus credits and multipliers. So free credits and fun all in one bonus game, and simply by choosing what a character should wear.

IGT has also given this slots game their MEGAfx “Surround Chair.” This feature on the slots game will give players video clips, music along with voice-overs.

The Sex in the City slots game has already found a home in Las Vegas and Reno casinos. With the popularity potential that this slots game has, it is only a matter of time before it finds a home in other casinos, pending regulatory approvals.

Can a Slots Player Do Anything to Affect the RNG?

December 22nd, 2009

We have all heard of games of skill, like poker and blackjack. These are games in which players can use strategy and skills to lower the house edge and improve their odds.

And we have all heard of games of chance in which players are gambling on the outcome. In games of chance there is no real way for players to alter the outcome of the game. Think of roulette for a moment. Those players are betting on what number the ball will land on, and they have no way of effecting where the ball will stop.

Slot machines, as much as we would like it to be otherwise, are like roulette. Slots are games of chance. We are feeding the machine or the online game our money, pressing or clicking Spin and hoping that we will win some sort of a payout—preferably a jackpot of course.

I have heard of people praying over a slot machine. I have heard of them blessing the machine with holy water. I have heard of lucky trinkets, clothing and jewelry that people will bring with them or wear to the casino or while playing online to try to improve their chances.

But in reality, none of these will have any bearing on the outcome of a spin of the reels. The result of a round of slots is determined by the Random Number Generator (RNG). This program will randomly choose an outcome after the player puts their money in and presses Spin. The results of each spin are stored in multiple locations to prevent players from illegally tampering with the program or the results. And slot machines are tested for randomness.

Online slots games are also tested for randomness. Randomness is what makes the game fair for everyone. Every player is guaranteed a random result. Some results win and other do not.
