New Online Slots Game…Sort of

September 7th, 2010

Slots players hear a few times a month about how casino game developers create and launch new online slots games. But they do not often hear about an older online slots game that gets revamped.

Think of it as making the online slots game in question new and improved.

Such is the case with Rival’s recent revamp of For Love and Money. This five reel, fifteen payline online slots game has been a staple at Rival powered online casinos. Even the launch of new online slots games, including the newer iSlots, cannot take the fans away from For Love and Money.

Well, Rival has finally recognized the draw this online slots game has, and has given it a facelift and relaunched it as a new online slots game.

But fans of the original game will not be disappointed. The same features that were loved in the original are there still. Mostly it was the graphics of this ‘new’ online slots game that have been given a going over: symbols have been cleaned up and animation smoothed out.

The story—and attachment—to this particular online slots game can be found in the opening:

A poet is contemplating love. He sees an older couple, obviously married for money, who are not all that fond of each other. Then he spies a young woman who is set upon by two nasty men; she is then saved by a Fabio-esque man—huge muscles, trim waist and lace up pants (which are kind of funny actually). The poet, I am assuming, believes this couple to be together for love.

Symbols include both couples, the nasty men and love symbols such as Love Birds, Chocolates, Roses and Poetry.

The Poet is the Wild and will substitute for any symbol other than the Scatter. He must be a good poet as he carries a 2x multiplier.

Cupid is the Scatter. A minimum of three Cupids landed will trigger ten free spins with a 3x multiplier.

So as players can see the favorite older features of For Love and Money are still there, just with cleaner graphics and better animation. I have to say that Rival did well with this ‘new’ online slots game. I would only have added a bonus game in which players helped Fabio rescue his girl, or one in which the players helped the unfortunate money man escape his woman.

RTG Goes Fruity with Online Slots Game

August 5th, 2010

Seems like everyone is in a hurry to release their new online slots games into the wilds of the online casino industry. Rival has made a couple of releases and Bodog has launched a new online slots game. Micorgaming and Vegas Technology cannot be far behind.

But Real Time Gaming’s latest online slots game is now here. The new five reel, twenty five payline online slots game is called Fruit Bowl XXV and it is being launched in celebration of the start of the NFL season.

Naturally the symbols are all sort of fruity—the Football is made up of a lemon with football stitching added to it. The Cheerleaders are blueberries. Other fruity symbols abound along with the Stadium, Tickets and Hats symbols.

But in this online slots game it is on between Mr. Grape and the Pineapple Boys.

Mr. Grape is not only the star of the fruity football team, he is also the Wild, substituting for all symbols except the Scatter. He also has a high payout for landing five of him: 7,500 coins.

As for that Scatter, it is the Logo. Five of those are worth a 200x multiplier. But it is also the trigger to the bonus game when you land at least three Logos.

When the game launches you will find yourself in Mr. Grape’s shoes and evading the Pineapple boys to cross the field. Just for triggering the bonus game players are awarded five free spins. But every time a player successfully evades one of the Pineapple Boys five more free spins are added.

In the bonus game, a touchdown will award you twenty five free games with a multiplier ranging from 2x to 5x. But being tackled will have the whistle blown and you will be returned to the regular game.

Like all online slots games that are a part of the Real Video Series, Fruit Bowl XXV features a major jackpot and a minor jackpot, both of which are won randomly.

I was never much of a football fan growing up, but with an online slots game like this I will be more inclined to enjoy the game. Rival has succeeded in creating a fun and bright online slots game

New Online Slots: Aussie Rules

July 28th, 2010

Rival is at it again.

Taking Australia and their love a sport they call ‘Footy’ and rolling them into one has produced a new online slots game at one of the online gambling industry’s software developers.

The name of the game is Aussie Rules, and it is a five reel online slots game with fifteen paylines. Players can wager with coins worth $0.01 up to $1, and they can wager from one to five coins per paylines. This makes the minimum wager $0.15 ($0.01 and one coin) and the maximum wager $75 ($1 and five coins).

This time Rival has delivered light and fun graphics to the reels with Whistles, Shoes Players and Jerseys. The Jersey is the jackpot symbol. Landing five of them will payout 500 coins.

Not to be left on the bench are the special play symbols.

The Ref is the Wild symbol, substituting for all symbols other than the Scatters. And while the Jersey might offer the highest payout from the regular symbols, landing five Refs will award 5,000 coins.

Thirsty? Thirsty for winning combinations? The Water Bottle is your ticket to free spins with a 3x multiplier. Landing three awards ten free spins, four gives twenty and five starts one hundred free spins a-spinning.

Finally there is the Football itself. Not only does it function as a Scatter symbol, but landing three, four or five of them will take you right onto the field with the players. The more goals you can score, the larger your bonus game prize is.

All in all, Rival did not do too bad with this new online slots game. While this is no iSlots—the online slots game type that Rival is known for—it is not too shabby at all and definitely worth a try. Trying is good sportsmanship, right?

New Online Slots Game: All Aboard

July 26th, 2010

Do you like trains?

If you like trains then the latest online slots game to roll out of Rival will be to your liking. The new online slots game bears the name All Aboard, and, yes, it is themed with trains. Very much themed with trains.

All Aboard is an online slots game with the standard five reels and twenty paylines. The wager range runs from $0.01 per payline up to $0.25, making this an online slots game that just about anyone can play.

To flesh out the train theme the reels are filled with Crossing Lights, Whistles, Steam Engines, Water Towers, Bells, Lanterns, See-Saw Cars, Cabooses, Nails and a Conductor. And do not forget the infamous Casey Jones. Although the symbol in the game does not match the childhood Halloween ghost story about Casey Jones—the symbol shows him alive and well.

So bonus features!

The new online slots game does offer plays three types of bonus features: an Expanding Wild, free spins and a bonus game.

The Steam Engine is the Expanding Wild, which only appears on reels one and two. If landed it will expand to cover the entire reel and will double the winnings of any combination is completes.

Landing at least three of that darling Casey Jones will award ten free spins with a 2x multiplier. Four Casey Joneses will award twenty free spins with a 3x multiplier; and five Casey Joneses are worth forty free spins with a 4x multiplier.

Landing three of the Bell will cause the bell to sound and the bonus game to begin.

In the bonus game of this new online slots game players watch nine boxcars barrel onto the screen—such reckless train driving might be the reason why Casey Jones was in a Halloween cartoon to begin with. Eight of those boxcars have prizes and one has nothing. Players then pick boxcars. They can win the prizes in all eight so long as they do not pick the empty one. As soon as the empty box car is chosen the bonus game ends.

Fans of trains will enjoy this new online slots game from Rival. Roll over to a Rival online casino to take it for a ride.

Video Slots vs. iSlots

July 20th, 2010

Seems like so many things now have an ‘i’ at the front of their names: iPad, iPhone, iPod. And for the most part people believe that the magic ‘i’ makes it all worthwhile—that there is some quality to these iProducts that make them better.

The same iPhenomenon is happening is happening in the world of online slots too.

Watch out online slots players, the iStorm is here!

But iCraze that is showing up in the world of online casinos is not a bad thing at all. In this instance the magic ‘i’ does mean something better.

Traditionally in a video online slots game the player plays the same game over and over, perhaps travelling to a second screen for a bonus game, and then heading back over to the same old game.

In an iSlot players can be transported to Greece to Alaska to the Caribbean. No joke. The name of that iSlot is Baby Boomers Cash Cruise.

In that particular game players start out in the Travel Agency. There they stay until they trigger a bonus game, in which they determine their vacation destination. Once the vacation destination is determined the player is then whisked off to play in a new game with new symbols and new bonus features.

That is the beauty of the iSlot in the world of online slots games—the game does not stay the same. Many iSlots have stages to play through.

As the Reels Turn is a good example of this. In that iSlot players play one screen until they trigger a bonus game that then sends them to the next scene in the ‘episode.’ By the time the player has played all the way through the game, he has reached the climax and end of a TV episode played out on a slots game.

Another type of iSlot has players taking an active role in the game which affects the amount won.

Heavyweight Gold has online slots players picking up their boxing gloves to battle one of three opponents. Players must succeed in beating their opponent in order to win the full bonus game amount. And each opponent has a different fighting style. Winning the boxing match is not guaranteed so play hard!

Now you take those sorts of iSlots and compare them to a traditional video online slots game. In those players spin the reels, choose a door to look behind in the bonus game and then it is back to the original reels.

There seems to be much more excitement and player involvement in the new iSlots.

Right now Rival Gaming is the online software developer who is producing the iSlots. Thankfully many online casinos that are powered by Rival offer free play on some of their iSlots allowing those who are new to the iSlots iCraze try this type of online slots game out.

Fixer Upper Slots

July 7th, 2010

This is one apt title for this online slots game.

For the most part I like the online slots games that Rival produces. Typically they pay pretty well and are enjoyable while playing, especially the iSlots. But this one? I have to say that it is my least favorite online slots game by Rival. But then it is an older iSlot.

Fixer Upper is a five reel iSlot with twenty paylines featuring a couple who have bought a house and are now in the process of fixing it up. Naturally the symbols include a Staple Gun, Saw, Drill, Tape Measure and more.

Like any other iSlot this one does have something of a storyline. Actually it is more of a list of things to work through rather than an actual storyline.

In this iSlot players must trigger the bonus game and complete it. They then move on to the next round of spinning trying to trigger the next bonus game.

The first bonus game players must complete is the plumbing game. Three Wrenches must be landed at which point players are taken to a second screen where they replace rusted pipes with new pipes. The bonus prize then increases the value of your ‘house,’ better known as your bankroll.

Once the game is completed players are returned to the reels to spin for the next bonus round. This time they are trying to land Paint Cans. I am not sure what the second bonus game is like as I was not able to trigger it—which is unusual for a Rival online slots game.

Players do have the chance of triggering fifteen free spins though. The Handywoman is the Scatter and landing at least three of her will trigger the free spins. Three of her will trigger fifteen free spins, four will trigger twenty and five will trigger twenty five. Unfortunately there is no multiplier attached to these free spins.

However the Wild is there to step in. It will expand during free spins, and for every Wild that helps to complete a winning combination, the payout is multiplied by the number of Wilds. And the Wilds land fairly often.

Between the poor payouts and the nearly untriggerable bonus games, this is one online slots game I will not be back to visit. That and, personally, the smiles of the handyman and handywoman are just frightening. This is an online slots game that should be played for fun and not for real money.

Sweet Slots

June 29th, 2010

Ever hear of that children’s story in which the kids eat the witch’s house, and in return she fattens the little boy up and wants to eat him?

Well, it has been turned into an online slots game. A very colorful and happy online slots game. One that will make you very happy to fatten up the little boy. In fact, that is the bonus round.

I know I usually start my online slots game reviews talking about symbols and such. So here is the run down on symbols in Rival’s Candy Cottage: candy. Lots of candy. There are also the two children, a Bread Basket and a Duck. No, I have no idea what the Duck is for. As far as I know the fairy tale did not have a duck in it.

Anyway. The bonus game.

The bonus game of Candy Cottage consists of the slots player moving the little boy around so that he can eat as much candy as possible. It is triggered by landing three Cages. At the end of the bonus game, if you have fed enough to the little boy, the game ends by telling you that you did a good job and the witch has plans for the little boy. Ominous sounding right?

Such a nice sounding bonus game for a bright happy online slots game.

I have triggered this bonus game three times on won 640 coins each time. I am not sure if that is he maximum to win or if I just have that kind of crazy luck, but near as I can tell 640 coins is the max you can win from eating candy.

But the bonus game is not the only bonus feature to be found in Candy Cottage.

On reel 3 is a Wood Stove which becomes an Expanding Wild, helping to increase your winnings.

You would not be considered greedy if you wanted more bonus features; we have come to expect them in online slots game. And slots players will not be disappointed.

Landing three Candy Cottages will trigger ten free spins with a 3x multiplier on each free spin.

There are enough bonus features in Candy Cottage to make any online slots player a glutton for winnings—not that there is anything wrong with that for online slots players. After all that is why we play online slots to begin with—to win!

So if you like candy and slots you might want to check out this five reel twenty payline online slots game. But do not eat too much candy—that witch just might eat you up! Or steal your winnings at best.

New Online Slots Game from Rival

June 23rd, 2010

What is your favorite lucky charm?

Recently Rival Gaming released a new online slots game to its partner online casinos. While Rival is known for its iSlots, this new online slots game is not an iSlot. This new five reel, twenty payline game still features the extraordinary graphics Rival is known for.

Best of Luck is the name of this new online slots game and its theme is about luck. Every traditional lucky charm is present here, plus some I did not were lucky: Wishbones, Acorns, Rabbit Feet, Four Leaf Clover, Keys, Pennies, Horseshoes, Ladybugs, Elephant Statues, Cat’s Eyes and Chinese Cats. Each symbol has its own animation when landed, adding to the graphic appeal of this game.

I do have to say that I was not aware the acorns were good luck charms. Or keys for that matter. If that is the case, I shall be keeping my keys a lot closer at hand.

This game features a Wild, which is the Chinese Cat. This little guy will substitute for any symbol except for the Scatter Jewels.

While regular game play is fairly ordinary, it is the combination bonus game and free spins that bring excitement to this game. Another plus to Rival slots games is that the bonus games that they feature actually do pay well and are worth the spins to trigger them. On top of that, they are actually fun to play and players’ interests are sparked by them.

Three Jewels awards 4 free spins; four Jewels award 5 free spins and a 2x multiplier; and five Jewels award 6 free spins with a 3x multiplier.

The way these spin work is like this: each free spin awards a bonus game. The bonus game depends on which three matching symbols land on the reels; and each bonus game is unique to that symbol.

For example, if three Ladybugs are landed, players are taken to a second screen with three ladybugs scurrying about. Players must choose a ladybug. The poor thing is squashed but your bonus prize is revealed by it. Three Pennies takes you to a second screen where you must choose heads or tails.

The point is that this online slots game makes you curious about what each of the bonus games are. And you want to keep playing. Thankfully, these bonus games pay. Playing $0.01 per payline, $0.20 per spin, $8.60 was the least amount I won and $13.60 was the most I won. It pays.

With online slots games like these I am looking forward to seeing what Rival will be rolling out in the future.

I Spy a Slots Game

June 9th, 2010

While Rival Gaming is known for their iSlots, I have to say that their regular bonus online slots games are not too shabby at all.

Take a look at Spy Game, a five reel online slots game with fifteen paylines.

This online slots game is themed with a spy on a mission to neutralize a missile factory that is building dangerous missiles. If James Bond were on the cartoony side this would be the online slots game that he would star in.

Players are given a story line to help the Spy with his mission. On the reels are a Camera, a briefcase, a Getaway Car, a Missile, a Woman and of course the Spy. The Files are the Wild and the Gun is the Scatter, which can trigger 10 free spins in which the Wild has a 4x multiplier.

There are three segments of this story line to play through.

The first segment has you spinning reels until you trigger the free spins. During the free spins all three bomb components must be landed on the reels at some point. Once all three have been landed the bomb is assembled and you are taken away to a bonus game. In the bonus game you choose which building of the missile facility to bomb. Each building is worth a bonus amount; the building you choose will be your prize. Segment 1: accomplished.

Then you are spinning the reels again until you trigger more free spins. This time three pieces of a sniper rifle must be landed at some point. Once you have all three pieces of the rifle, you are taken to a bonus game in which you shoot the enemy soldiers in order to not be shot yourself. The more soldiers you shoot before they shoot back will determine your bonus amount. Segment 2: accomplished.

Once again you find yourself on the reels, working to trigger more free spins. This time you must land a Grappling Hook, a Car and a Jet in order to trigger the third bonus game. Once you have those you can make your getaway…as soon as you disarm the enemy’s bomb that is in your way. Choosing one of four wires will allow you to get away and receive another bonus prize. Mission: accomplished.

I am never disappointed with Rival. The free spins are triggerable and the bonus features more than make up for the spins used to trigger the free spins and bonus game. Not only that, for entertainment value, you can actually play through the whole storyline without it taking days on end—one of the downsides to the iSlots. I have to say I enjoyed my time playing Spy Game and the money I won.

iSlots Rock!

May 25th, 2010

How many online slots players out there like video games like Guitar Hero? If you are one of them then I have got an online slots game for you. Actually it is an iSlot but, trust me, you will like this iSlot.

Naturally because this is an iSlot it comes to slots players from Rival Gaming. The slots game? It is called Rock On, and it is a five reel interactive online slots game with twenty paylines.

The name says it all though. This is an online slots game that is meant to play hard. What with familiar faces like Ringo, Hendrix, Manson and symbols like Guitars, Drums and Hand Signs, this online slots game is meant to get your energy up.

To help players on their way to money and rock star glory are a Scatter, an expanding Wild and a regular Wild.

The Drums are the Scatter. They not only give online slots players a Scatter payout but they also trigger five free spins with a 3x multiplier when at least three Drums are landed. And while that sounds nice, this makes these free spins even hotter: landing a drum on each of the five spins will award an extra payout.

The Green Guitar will act as your expanding Wild. It will cover its entire reel to help create more winning combinations.

The Red Guitar is the regular Wild, substituting for all symbols except for the Expanding Wild, Scatter and Bonus Symbol.

And speaking of the Bonus Symbol, here comes the King. Yes, Elvis is the Bonus Symbol. Landing three of the King will trigger the interactive bonus round…

How are your guitar skills by the way? Because you are going to need them in this bonus game.

This iSlot’s bonus game is set up similar to Guitar Hero. There is a seven song set list which online slots players will play through, one song for each bonus round. This song list includes ‘Gold Mine,’ ‘Egyptian Queen’ and ‘Garden of Secrets’ along with four more. Players are presented with the frets of a guitar and, like in Guitar Hero, must click the pick on the notes as they slide over the frets. The more notes hit the more coins won.

With all the lights and sounds—not to mention that rock star interactive bonus game—this is one iSlot that is not to be missed! Rock On turns the ordinary online slots game into your very own rock concert inside your computer.
