Leftover Sushi Slots

December 7th, 2010

Every now and then I miss a new online slots game when it makes its debut. Perhaps this can be owed to software developers and online casinos wishing to not make a big splash, especially right before the launch of all their Christmas holiday slots games.

And so some new online slots games fall through the cracks. Such is the case with Sushi Express.

This is a five reel online slots game by Wagerlogic with thirty paylines of play.

On the surface there is nothing remarkable about this particular online slots game, but I do like the theme as I love sushi. And in all reality, a good majority of the time players will choose an online slots game to play based purely on the theme. So. I like sushi; therefore I shall go over a sushi slots game.

Obviously Sushi Express carries a sushi theme, but the sushi is a little on the comical side what with the sea creatures still alive and not wanting to be eaten.

Wagers start at $0.30 per spin and max out at $300 for the high rollers. This wager range results from this online slots game offering up to thirty coins to be wagered per payline. Each coin can be worth $0.01 up to $10.

There are two bonus features in Sushi Express, one on the reels and one in a second screen.

The bonus feature on the reels are free spins of course, triggered by the Scatter. Landing three or more of the Scatter will award players twenty free spins.

As soon as I said second screen your mind should have immediately thought of a bonus game, and if so, you are right. The Pick a Plate bonus game allows players to choose their plate of sushi in order to claim their bonus prize.

While Sushi Express is a simply constructed online slots game, the theme is amusing, which, given the nature of an online slots game, makes the theme highly important. In short, themes are very important and that I will always play a sushi online slots game. Never underestimate the theme of an online slots game!

Slots Sprung from the Soil

December 6th, 2010

Typically one would expect to see an out pouring of Christmas and holiday themes for new online slots games released in December. Therefore it is refreshing to see a new online slots game that not only does not carry a holiday theme, but does not even carry a winter theme.

In fact, it is the opposite of winter.

The latest five reel from Rival Gaming is an online slots game called Cream of the Crop. And rather than things in the earth dying off for winter, foods—and Weeds—are springing forth from the ground.

With twenty paylines, players watch fifteen seeds fall into the ground in five rows vertical rows. The placement of each seed matches the placement of a symbol in a normal slots games.

The only difference in Cream of the Crop are the seeds falling into the soil are the same as spinning reels, except the ordinary looking of spinning reels is not present. This presents a refreshing overall look to this online slots game.

That being said, once the seeds land, symbols grow from the soil, symbols such as Onions, Turnips, Corn and other vegetables grown in gardens.

Players can look forward to an Extended Wild: a Rabbit hops out of the ground, hops over the other symbols in that row—or reel—to make them Wilds, which then increases the players chances of winning combinations.

This is no ordinary slots garden either—Buried Treasure can be found here. Players will find Buried Treasure Chests on the reels, and landing three of them will trigger a bonus game to further increase what you reap in this online slots game.

I have to applaud RivalGaming’s latest online slots game for the unique seeds replacing the reels, further driving home the garden idea in Cream of the Crop. They have taken the concept of this slots game and made it a winner.

Paddy Power to Get New 3D Slots

November 23rd, 2010

In less than two months the Irish online casino Paddy Power is going to be the recipient of two new 3D online slots games developed by 3D software games creator Baddamedia: Go Go 3000 and Cajun Cash.

To help increase the excitement of the launch of these two new 3D slots games, Paddy Power has a promotion in which they will send 3D glasses to its players who opt in. One pair of glasses will be offered to each player and will be shipped in the first week of January. Once the glasses are received, players need only log in, put them on and begin spinning.

The first of the two new online slots games, Go Go 3000, has a cute little space race theme that has players spinning the reels through galaxies.

There are Wilds and Scatters for Go Go 3000, but the Super Prize Side Game can only be triggered if the player enables the Super Bet feature. Naturally this costs a tad more of course, but it does guarantee a prize.

Players can ‘jump’ from one galaxy to the next with the Planet Jump symbol. Six galaxy jumps gives players the chance to fix their space racer and win some money.

The other new 3D online slots game, Cajun Cash, teams players up with Gary Gator, Purvis Pig and Farmer Flapstreak in their hunt through bayous for oil. The idea is that if you can help make them rich, they will help make you rich.

Both Go Go 3000 and Cajun Cash are five reel 3D online slots game with twenty four paylines. While there is still more than a month until the two online slots games are being released, Paddy Power is certainly excited with their imminent launch of these two 3D online slots games.

Christmas Slots Already

November 19th, 2010

Early much?

I know the online casino industry gets excited when the slew of holidays commence with Halloween. The excitement builds and builds with holiday tournaments and holiday slots games every single month through March.

But are we really already starting the Christmas portion of the season? Already?

This is like retail—Christmas decorations and lights being put out on the shelves as Halloween costumes and decorations are being taken down. Typically the online casino industry is pretty good about giving Thanksgiving its own time in the spotlight. But it seems that Playtech is all geared up for Christmas.

Playtech has just released their newest online slots game: Santa’s Surprise. This five reel online slots game is full of snow, Stockings, Wreathes, Bells and Presents, all bright and cheerful and overflowing with holiday cheer…before Thanksgiving.

I like Playtech. They make some nice online slots games. But, come on, I have not even had my turkey yet! I have not yet had the pleasure of sleeping through Black Friday! Can we please hold off on Christmas?

I suppose it is too late considering that Playtech has already launched this little Christmas spinner.

Feature-wise this is not a bad online slots game. It offers a bonus game with a Christmas tree that players take presents from underneath to claim bonus prizes. There is also a 10,000 coin jackpot on Santa’s Surprise.

All in all, not a bad new online slots game. But what gets me is the lack of respect of the great day of feasting. There needs to be some more time allotted for Tom Turkey.

Thankfully the majority of online casinos out there are still wrapped up in Thanksgiving online slots tournaments, and will not begin the Christmas portion of the holiday season until December when the tournament calendars rollover.

But this new Christmas slots game already is putting Christmas on the horizon. It is not far off, slots players.

Witch Slots in November

November 17th, 2010

Yes, you read that right, but let me clarify. I have found a new online slots game with a witch theme that was released this month. In November. Yes, it is a month late in my opinion for a Halloween slots game. But that is not to say that it is a bad online slots game. It does offer a progressive jackpot after all.

The name of this new online slots game is Witch’s Brew and it is a creation of Slotland. Players will find an online slots game modeled after the classic slot machine of old with three reels and one payline.

Other than the Pumpkin, the witchy theme is found in the graphics surrounding the reels rather than in the symbols. Around the reels players can see a pile of wood, bags of ingredients, a black cat and a fire along with other things to allude to something being cooked up.

There are actually seven Wilds in this slots game—one for each symbol. Each Wild will substitute for any symbol in the game regardless of which Wild fruit it is.

If you land three different Wilds on the payline, the first Wild will determine what the payout is. For example say you land a Wild Pumpkin, a Wild Cherry and a Wild Plum in that order, the Wild Pumpkin would determine what combination the Wilds are building. In this case, the other two Wilds will become Pumpkins and you would receive a Pumpkin payout—the highest in the game.

A graphic of note in this game is the seven cauldrons underneath the reels. When a spin results in no payouts, any fruits landed will fall into their respective cauldrons.

When a cauldron fills up, it will begin to boil. When it boils, that fruit becomes a Wild as well.

But it is worth noting that each fruit is weighted differently. And that they payout according to weight. The heavier they are in real life, the more they payout in the game. This also applies to the cauldrons.

Since cherries weigh less in real life, it takes more cherries to fill the cauldron and make it boil than it takes to fill and bring the pumpkin cauldron to a boil. This means that you will need a lot more non-paying cherries than you do non-paying pumpkins to turn them into Wilds.

Some cauldrons might just fill up and boil simultaneously, and that can give you more extra Wilds at the same time.

As for the progressive jackpot, players must bring the pumpkin cauldron to a boil, turning ordinary pumpkins into extra Wilds, and then land three extra Wild pumpkins on the payline in order to trigger the progressive jackpot.

Despite being a late Halloween online slots game, Slotland did not do a bad job in designing this simple little three reel, single payline slots game. All in all, not a bad late-Halloween addition.

New RTG Slots Game

November 11th, 2010

And I thought forty paylines was a lot!

Real Time Gaming’s November offering makes forty payline slots games look like nothing. The new online slots game bears the name Lucky Tiger and has eighty eight paylines spanning its five reels.

Thankfully wagers on this online slots game are not too bad. Real Time Gaming has given coin limits a $0.01 to $1 range, making each spin cost between $0.88 and $88.

Lucky Tiger is a part of RTG’s Real Series, meaning that is another RTG online slots game to have to random jackpots—a minor jackpot and a major jackpot. The minor jackpot starts at $100 and rises while the major jackpot will start at $1,000 and climb. Should a random jackpot be triggered, it will reset itself at its minimum of either $100 or $1,000 depending on which one was triggered.

The Wild symbol will only appear on reels one and five, but he is one versatile tiger. Yes, the Golden Tiger is the Wild and he will substitute for all symbols except for the Scatter.

Interesting little trick on that Golden Tiger—if you land five of him during a free spin he will payout 5,888 coins. Nice little tidbit there.

The Gong is the real symbol to watch in this slots game. There will be free spins but it all depends on how many Gongs you land:

Three Gongs will trigger the Pick a Feature. In the feature three gongs will appear on the screen and you have to pick one. One of three free spins features will be revealed by the gong you choose: Lucky Tiger, Gong Bonus or Fortune Bonus.

The Lucky Tiger awards you eight free spins. But the Scatter—the Gong—can award you more spins, up to a twenty five maximum.

In the Gong Bonus you will either receive right or eighteen free spins. But the Gong symbol will double as a Wild on top of giving Scatter payouts in the free spins. Between its Scatter payouts and helping to complete winning combinations, this is the symbol to watch in Gong Bonus.

In the Fortune Bonus you will be awarded eight free spins and each spin has a multiplier to match its spin number. Meaning that your first free spins will have a multiplier of 1x, your second spin will have a 2x multiplier all the way up to your eighth free spin with its 8x multiplier.

While there is no bonus game in Lucky Tiger, Real Time Gaming did an outstanding job with all of the free spin features in this new online slots game. Lucky Tiger can be found at an RTG powered online casino like Cherry Red. With all those free spin features it is sure not to disappoint.

Microgaming Goes Retro

November 5th, 2010

In the mood for a more classically oriented online slots game? Something that brings to mind the one-armed bandits of old, but that still offers some of the features we have come to love in modern slots games?

Microgaming has just the online slots game for just such a want.

It is one of their newest online slots games called Retro Reels.

Retro Reels is five reel online slots game with twenty paylines. And all of the symbols are designed after the classic symbols found on the old one-armed bandits: 7’s, Cherries, Lemons, Plums, Dollar Signs and Bars.

But this classic looking five reel offers players a mix of classic features as well as some of the modern day bonus features we love.

Like the classic slots games there is no Wild in this game and there are not any bonus games.

But there is a Scatter and a free spins feature. The Scatter is the Dollar Sign and it will payout 100 coins for three and 1,000 coins for four. But it is landing five Dollar Signs that will trigger the 10,000 coin jackpot of this online slots game.

As for the free spins, there is a 5 Free Spins symbol, and I like the way it works.

Landing two 5 Free Spins symbols will trigger 10 free spins—5 Free Spins times 2 equals 10, get it?

Starting at two of the 5 Free Spins symbols, players will be awarded 5 free spins for every one of those free spins symbols they land. The maximum amount of free spins to be won is 25 because there are only five reels, making 5 Free Spins symbols the most you can land.

On the whole I like the combination of classic looks and features of slot machines mixed with modern day features of online slots games. I salute Microgaming for this simple, yet well-executed new online slots game.

Big Kahuna Online Slots at Virgin

November 4th, 2010

While it is not a brand new Microgaming online slots game, it is new to Virgin.

Launched today, Big Kahuna slots is an oldie, but goodie from the Microgaming line up. Most likely Virgin Casino has just gotten their hands on this little jewel of a slots game thanks to that new QuickFire software the Microgaming has put out there.

QuickFire allows Microgaming’s partner online casinos to easier access to some of Microgaming’s hottest games in an attempt to spread their reach.

As a result Virgin Casino now has Big Kahuna in their offering of online slots games.

What makes this slots game so amazing that giant Virgin Casino would want it.

Quite simple really—Big Kahuna has not one, but two bonus games.

The first of the two bonus games is the volcano bonus game.

In this one players are taken to a second screen where they have to save an island chief and his village from the wrath of a mighty volcano god. Players must choose which offering to make to the volcano god. If he is happy with the offering the chief and his village is spared and you receive a bonus prize.

If your offering does not make the volcano god happy run away.

The other bonus game is the Pick a Mask bonus game. As the title suggests, this is one of those bonus games in which you get to keep picking from the ten island masks on the screen until you choose a mask that ends the bonus game. The more masks you are able to choose, the larger your bonus prize is.

Between these two bonus games players can keep their bankrolls up, giving them more time to play Big Kahuna and possibly win the jackpot.

It is not often that you find an online slots game with two bonus games—free spins do not count as a bonus game by the way. But when you do find such an online slots game, it is usually a good one to play.

Slots to Steal from the Rich

November 3rd, 2010

Yes, we know that slots games are designed to take money. But that is not what I mean when I say ‘Steal from the rich and give to the poor.

What I am talking about is the second of the four new Microgaming online slots games to be released this month: Robin Hood.

While many online casino game software creators have designed a Robin Hood themed online slots game before, Microgaming has taken a slightly different approach: birds.

Yes, birds. Maid Marion, Friar Tuck, the Sheriff of Nottingham and, of course, Robin Hood are all birds. Maid Marion is a dove; Friar Tuck is an owl; the Sheriff of Nottingham is a crow; and Robin Hood is a sparrow.

Not a bad cast when you figure it came from an aviary.

Robin Hood is another online slots game that features the 243 different ways to win. Like I said in yesterday’s slots post, this seems to be a growing trend—especially from Microgaming.

Another increasing trend is Stacked Wilds. And Robin Hood offers that as well in the form of the game’s logo.

It would not be Robin Hood if there were not any Wanted posters. So of course Microgaming has included them. Only these Wanted posted will trigger fifteen free spins with a possible multiplier worth up to 100x. That is if you can land three, four or five Wanted posters.

And we cannot forget about that little sparrow, Robin Hood. Landing him on reels one and five at the same time will trigger the archery bonus game. Guess what you do there.

Players have five arrows to hit five of the nine targets to win multipliers for their bonus prize. The multipliers range from 2x and 15x.

This slots game is a rather comical take on Sherwood Forest and the Robin Hood crew, but when taking into consideration the Stacked Wilds, free spins, bonus game and 243 ways to win, this is not a bad online slots game at all. It has the potential to give a bankroll extended life.

Reel Gems Slots Game

November 2nd, 2010

It is a new month and all online slots players know what that means: it is time for new online slots games to be released!

True to form, Microgaming is out the door first with four new online slots games being released this month. First up is the glittering, yet simple, Reel Gems slots game.

Reel Gems is a five reel game without any paylines. That is right, this is another one of those online slots games with 243 ways to win. Meaning, that players need only land winning combinations on consecutive reels to receive a payout.

As the name of the game alludes to, this online slots game is full of vibrantly colored and beautifully drawn gems: Diamonds, Rubies, Sapphires, Emeralds, Opals and some Topaz. Naturally the traditional 9, 10, J, Q, K and A are all present, but they have been outfitted in stunning colors.

There is not a bonus game in Reel Gems—perhaps Microgaming thought that staring at pretty gems was bonus enough—but there are free spins to win.

The Diamond Ring is the Scatter that will award fifteen free spins when three, four or five of them are landed. All fifteen free spins have a 3x multiplier on them, making it possible to win up to 120,000 coins from the free spins feature.

Naturally there is also a Wild, which, like almost all Microgaming slots games, is the Logo. Between the Wild and the 243 different ways to win this is an online slots game that is sure to entertain.

I do have to say that the type of online slots game to feature the 243 different ways to win is becoming increasingly more popular. Back when Thunderstruck II was released in April the 243 different ways to win was fairly new. Now it seems to be built into a great many more online slots games.

Not that it is a bad thing.
