Halloween in March? Sure, why not? They do Christmas in July after all. So today we are going to have Halloween in March and take a look at Microgaming’s Halloweenies online slots game.
My first reaction to this slots game is ‘Hello, bright colors!’ This is a very brightly colored slots game. Almost too bright. Slots players might spend the first few minutes just staring at the symbols trying to figure out what some of the symbols are.
The graphics are rather unique on Halloweenies. It mostly centers around traditional monsters dressed in costumes to go trick or treating. So there’s the Squirrel Witch, the Franken-nurse, a Sheep-Wolf and a Skeleton. There are also the requisite piles of candy that comes from trick-or-treating. The only downside on the piles of candy is that there are five different piles, and with all the bright colors, it is a bit hard to distinguish between them.
Like any good online slots game, Microgaming has given this game a few good symbols to keep an eye out for.
There is the Wild. The Wild is made up of four little monsters shaped like the letters in Wild. It naturally substitutes for all symbols other than the Scatter Bunny and the Bonus Pumpkin. But those little Wild monsters have the highest payout: 13,000 coins. Of course it would be 13 something.
The Scatter Bunny, when three, four or five are landed, will award you with, you got it, thirteen free spins. But on a more normal note, all winnings during the free spins have a 3x multiplier.
Landing three, four or five of the Bonus Pumpkins will trigger the Pick a Pumpkin bonus game. And the bonus game is just that. You will be presented with a bunch of rather odd looking jack-o-lanterns, of which you can only pick three. Each pumpkin you pick will reveal a bonus amount; the amounts are added together for your total bonus amount.
Playing one coin per line, I won 260 coins in one bonus round: 120, 120 and 20.
On the whole this can be a fun online slots game to play, but the bright colors can wear on the eyes after a time. Winning combinations tend to be on the smaller side, while the bonus game and free spins are not triggered as often as in other game. This is not a bad slots game, just one that I would recommend more for fun playing rather than serious playing.
