Slot Tournament Advice

March 4th, 2011

It is the weekend. Well it will be in less than an hour for me. But the point is that the weekend is almost here and that means the majority of online slots tournaments will be getting underway.

Playing in an online slots tournament can be a lot of fun. But if you allow yourself to get too carried away, you may well wind up investing more than you thought.

With the exception of freerolls, online slots tournament will have an entry fee to some degree. Some online casinos will offer tournaments that are part of special series in which the entry fee is notably low. Online Vegas’ Bonus Buck Weekend tournaments are one such example.

The Bonus Buck online slots tournaments carry an entry fee of $0.99. For less than a dollar, slots players have 225 tournament credits to spin the designated slots game with.

For online slots players who are looking for a lark and not looking to invest too much in a tournament, these tournaments might seem like just the thing. The start at 9 am on a Saturday and finish the next day, Sunday, at 10 pm. A nice inexpensive tournament.

But it is possible to get carried away. Players can make rebuys for $0.99 to get another 225 credits. For the player who takes eight, nine or ten rebuys, they will have more than doubled their investment in a tournament that they had not intended to invest much in.

The key here is to think about the prize pool, in this case it is only $2,500 in Bonus Bucks; and then compare that value of the prize pool to what you are willing to spend on the tournament. To me personally, $10 is a lot to invest in a tournament that I might only win bonus money from when there are online slots tournaments out there with $10 entry fees that give me a shot at winning a cash prize instead.

I cannot tell you what is a ‘good’ investment or not. It is up to each online slots player to determine how much they are willing to spend in entry fees and rebuys for a shot at the prize pool.
