Choosing a Slots Game—Part III

August 18th, 2011

Well after a bit of a break from advice on how to choose an online slots game I think it is time to revisit the topic. Recently we talked about why to stay away from progressive online slots and how important the number of paylines is. Now it is time to look at the pay table.

Before spinning the reels of any online slots game scope out its pay table. There are some types of payouts that you want to be on the lookout for:

Scatter payouts can be some of the best regular play payouts. Typically players will only land the lowest paying combinations on a regular basis. Because of that you will want to check out what kind of payouts the smaller scatters offer.

One good thing is an online slots game that only requires two scatters to receive a payout. This makes it all the easier to win a payout.

But there is one thing in regard to scatter payouts that you will want to definitely make sure of and that its the lowest payout. Never go for an online slots game that only offers a 1x payout for the smallest number of scatters. While that will recoup you the cost of the spin that allowed you to win that 1x payout, it does nothing more for you or for preserving your bankroll.

You will want to look for an online slots game whose smallest scatter payout is 2x. This will not only give you back the cost of your spin—since scatter payouts are based on your total wager—but it will also give you a little bit extra.

I will talk some more this afternoon about scoping out the pay table.
