Virgin Launches New Slots Game

April 11th, 2011

Virgin Casino could never pass up the chance to launch a new online slots game. And this month will be no different. Not that Virgin uses the beginning of a new month to launch a slots game. But this will be its first of the month.

The new online slots game is Bejeweled 2 from GameSys. The first Bejeweled online slots game to launch at Virgin was from Cryptologic. Me thinks that GameSys created their bejeweled but had to rename the software going to Virgin as Bejeweled 2 owing to the fact that Virgin already has a Bejeweled online slots game.

Not that its sequel from different parents is a lesser form. It comes with a Wild with a 2x multiplier and three bonus games.

The Cascading Reaction Bonus is triggered by landing three or more Bejeweled Bonus symbols. In this bonus, in which the reels spin like normal, when three or more symbols line up horizontally or vertically the player collects a payout, then the matched gems shatter and more fall down from above, potentially creating new combinations. This will go on until there are no more wins.

Three or more Free Spin symbols will activate the Free Spins Bonus Feature which can award up to fifty free spins on its onset depending on the number of triggering symbols. The multiplier is determined by a wheel that awards the multiplier it stops on when the player clicks stop. Additional free spins can be triggered.

The Wheel of Riches Bonus is triggered by landing three or more Wheel of Riches symbols. A wheel is brought up on the screen. When it stops spinning the multiplier it lands on is applied to the triggering wager for the bonus prize.

Virgin’s new Bejeweled 2 is loaded with bonus features and is sure to be just as popular as the first Bejeweled online casino game.

A Touch of Garlic for Your Slots?

April 4th, 2011

If you are spinning the reels of Slotland’s latest online slots game, Jewels of the Ancients, then, yes, you do want to that garlic.

Jewels of the Ancients is the newest vampire themed online slots game. All five reels and nineteen paylines are devoted to vampire hunting. The idea is to slay the vampires in order to collect the precious treasure.

And, yes, to help you on your way to vampire slaying there really are garlic symbols on the reels, along with jewels, maps, vampires and chalices.

The creators of Slotland’s latest addition have given Jewels of the Ancients a bonus game, as most online slots games worth their reels will have. And, no, the bonus game is not a clever way of merely giving players free spins. This is a real bonus game that takes players to a second screen.

Landing three Full Moons will trigger the bonus game. This second screen-er will show players a bunch of cards. The player’s only task is to flip as many cards as possible. The key is to find as many bonus symbols as possible for the game ends. Be sure to have your garlic on hand.

The bonus symbols are a bat, a fallen angel, an ankh, a gargoyle and two vampire favorites: the ever well-known Dracula and Nosferatu. Finding all six of these bonus symbols will award players with a bonus prize of $1,000.

Slotland has tied Jewels of the Ancients to its progressive jackpot, which it is worth nothing that all of the online slots games at Slotland are tied to the progressive jackpot. But players are only eligible to trigger the progressive jackpot is they are wagering the maximum on a spin. The maximum by the way is $20.

While not one of the major names in the online casino industry, Slotland is still a well-established online casino. While we do not normally see vampire themed online slots games until October, it has not stopped other software developers. Jewels of the Ancients with its garlic symbols is sure to be a fast hit at the online casino.

Bruce Lee Immortalized in Slots

March 11th, 2011

Everyone knows who Bruce Lee is. Even I, who cannot concretely remember if I have seen any of his movies, know who Bruce Lee is. It is kind of like how everyone knows who Chuck Norris is…minus all of the jokes.

Well now a software developer has immortalized the martial arts actor who in turn immortalized Kung Fu in an online slots game. WMS created the online slots game with a unique reel layout that actually might prove to be quite nifty.

The Bruce Lee online slots game featured five reels. I know, that sounds ordinary but here is where it gets a bit different:

Reels one and two only show two symbols apiece while reels three, four and five show four symbols each.

The benefit to this is in allowing players to play sixty paylines while only paying for thirty. All from eliminating the top symbols and bottom symbols from reels one and two.

For example the top two symbols of reels one and two can be used to complete a winning combination with each of the top two rows of symbols on reels three, four and five at the same time, which is something that would not be possible in an ordinary online slots game.

Different reels structure aside, the Bruce Lee online slots game also offers players three different chances of triggering the free spins bonus, which gives players five free spins.

Now Bruce Lee aside, I have to say that I find the reel restructure on the interesting side. It makes me wonder if other software developers will pick it or something like it up and work it into future online slots games.

So now the world has Bruce Lee, cultural Kung Fu icon, in his very own online slots game. Next will be the Bruce Lee jokes like the Chuck Norris ones.

What are Chuzzle Slots?

February 22nd, 2011

Actually the first question should be ‘What is a Chuzzle?’

A Chuzzle is a type of soda pop overseas. So this would be an online slots game based on a line of soda. Naturally players will find bottle of pop in this very bright and very colorful online slots game, along with fuzzy little balls with eyes.

Chuzzle Slots is a five reel online slots game with twenty paylines. And did I mention lots of colors? I did? Well, it is.

Colors aside, the symbols for this online slots game are pretty simple and consist mostly of the high cards: 9, 10, J, Q, K and A. Oh and the Chuzzle Furballs as I have dubbed them. The real draw to this online slots game is its bonus games, all three of them.

First up, we will check out the Pick a Bottle Bonus. On the reels slots players will see Blue Bottles. Landing three of them will allow slots players to choose one to reveal a bonus prize.

Then there is the Chuzzle Disco Bonus. This one requires that players land at least three of the Disco Bonus symbols. Three symbols will award 15 free spins; four will award 25 free spins; and five will award 50. It is possible to trigger the free spins on a free spins. When the final free spin is done players will choose from the line up of Chuzzle bottles to reveal the multiplier for the free spin winnings.

Finally there is the Chuzzle Reaction Bonus. This one is probably the most exciting of the three. This bonus game is started by landing at least three Chuzzle Reaction symbols. The symbols will fall and for every identical symbols that match horizontally or vertically, the pair will disappear and the symbols that were above them will cascade down. This will continue until there are no more horizontal or vertical pairs.

Despite not knowing what a Chuzzle was or what it tastes like, the online slots game based on the soda is as loaded with bonus games as the soda must be with carbonation. Which is not a bad thing. Chuzzle Slots can be found at the online casino Virgin Casino.

Not Your Typical Slots Game

February 22nd, 2011

I have to say I might be a bit biased about this online slots game, but only because it shares the same name as my site. Yes, this new-comer from Microgaming is called Slots Hero. And this really is not a typically online slots game.

True it has the appearance of an online slots game—albeit a four reel slots game rather than five—but its function and purpose are different.

For starters there are no paylines present in this slots game, and only four symbols: Cherries, Bars, Bells and Sevens. So if there are no paylines and only four symbols, how exactly does this slots game work?

At the bottom of each reel is a cut out of one of the four symbols, from left to right in the following order: Seven, Cherry, Bell, Bar. And underneath the cut outs are corresponding key board keys. This makes it possible for players to simply use keys to play this slots game.

Once the reels start to spin, players can either click or press the corresponding key. The purpose is to click or press a key when the appropriate symbol is inside the cut out. For every symbol that is ‘caught’ in its cut out, points are awarded to that symbol’s prize category.

Each symbol is worth points towards that symbol’s bonus prize:

Sevens: deposit amount
Cherries: deposit match percentage
Bells: money already in real money account
Bars: bonus money

Players can keep playing to better their score before turning in their score. And players will want to practice as there are three levels to this slots game that, once played through, will open up a bonus round. Practice is also necessary because players can only turn in their high score once to receive a bonus prize.

In that players are playing for bonus prizes rather than a high payout or jackpot, makes this online slots game unlike any other online slots game.

More Vampires in Your Slots

February 10th, 2011

I have to laugh, really I do. Yesterday I discussed a new online slots game released by Real Time Gaming about a vampire called Count Spectacular. And I had to laugh because here it is February and a software developer of casino games has launched a Halloween slots game.

But low and behold I sit down at my desk today and what do I find? Another software developer has launched a vampire themed online slots game.

This is not normally a developer that I cover, but I felt the need to share my apparent lack of knowledge that February must be ‘Launch a Halloween or Vampire Slots Game Month.’

This new vampire slots game comes from a software developer who works primarily with European online casinos and is called SkillOnNet. The name of their new online slots game is Vampire’s Feast, and let me add that it is a 3D slots game too.

The twenty payline slots game boasts blood, wolves, silver bullets, coffins, bats and just about any other icon associated with vampire lore, and, according to Michelle Stevens, the manager of the EU Casino who offers the slots game, it is a very scary slots game:

“This game is not for the faint hearted! It is full of realistic sounds, great music and 3D graphics which are sure to send shivers down your spin. You have to try this game but make sure that you are not alone and it is not dark.”

The Vampire’s Feast online slots game also comes with two bonus games for players to trigger. Details were not released about the bonus games but it was disclosed that they are not the ‘pick a box’ variety of bonus games, that players take an active part in earning their bonus winnings. This makes me think that these Vampire themed bonus games probably run along the lines of the ones offered in iSlots.

So here we are again, still in February. And yet we find that yet another Vampire online slots game. Dare we all wager on how many more they may be this month?

Slots That Go Boom

January 20th, 2011

Net Entertainment, while not being a software developer that I normally cover, has created and launched a new online slots game this month that I found rather intriguing. The name of this new online slots game is called Boom Brothers, and it is intriguing because its whole point is to trigger the bonus game in order to blow things up.

The theme of Boom Brothers is that of three brothers who are on a race against each other to mine diamonds, rubies and gold. But there is a certain way to trigger the bonus game that is the aim of the slots game.

Players must first trigger the Railtrack Bonus game. To do so, players must land three of the Railtrack symbols on an active payline on reels one, two and three. Once that is done, this online slots game will then line the tracks up and the last two reels will be spun. The hope is that the final two track pieces will land so that the track crosses all five reels.

If the track is completed the Boom Brothers cross the reels, leading you to the bonus game as well as awarding a 4x multiplier. If only one piece of track lands, players receive a 3x multiplier on their triggering wager; and if no track pieces land then they receive a 2x multiplier.

As for the Boom Brothers bonus game, players will see on a second screen all three brothers in their own mining carts. Underneath all their tracks are three mining carts, each with either a diamond, ruby of gold bar in it. Players keep choosing one of the bottom mining carts to reveal a number of moves, which will cause one of the Boom Brothers to start moving across the tracks.

It takes five moves for one Boom Brother to cross his own track. Once he reaches the other side he blows up the rock face in front of him, revealing his desired precious treasure as well as the players’ bonus prize. Which treasure is worth more for the player? Well, it changes—diamonds do not always mean the biggest prize.

There was just something to the mining race of the Boom Brothers online slots game that, combined with the whole point of the slots game being to blow up rocks in the bonus game, that was just too intriguing to pass up writing about.

Gin Joint Jackpot

January 14th, 2011

This month sees yet another online slots game with detectives and bad guys. Like in Microgaming’s Private Eye slots, this new online slots game has players on the side with the good guys, helping them to in their quest to stop the bad guys and mob bosses from running alcohol. It is a 1920s theme that captures the glamour associated with Prohibition.

This five reel 1920s gangster themed online slots game from Ash Gaming comes with twenty paylines for players to play on. The graphics are bright with that old-school lounge look to them.

But players are really looking forward to are the bonus features. There are two bonus games that players can trigger, yes, two.

The first is the Showdown Bonus game. Now I find this to be rather clever—the bonus game is only triggered when a Detective lands on the first reel and a Bad Guy lands on the fifth. Players are then taken to a nighttime alley where they have a shoot out with the bad guys. You can be the one behind the gun, or if you think your sharp shooting skills are not up to par you can let the Detective do the shooting for you. The more bad guys you shoot, the larger your bonus prize will be.

It is also from within this bonus game that the random jackpot could be triggered. If the Mob Boss appears with three barrels of alcohol you will win the progressive jackpot.

Detectives are not the only good guys on the reels; there are also Police Officers and they are the Scatter for the other bonus game. Land three, four or five Police Officers and you will get to go one three, four or five raids, respectively. On a raid you pick the potential speakeasy that the Gin Joint Jackpot Police will raid. If you were right you can win a multiplier. The multipliers can run up to 200x your triggering wager.

Despite the simple look to the overall design this online slots game was created with the bonus features in mind as that is the place where slots player will pick up their money in Gin Joint Jackpot.

Gym Slots for Your New Year

January 4th, 2011

Getting in shape and going to the gym are two variations of the most common New Year’s resolution. Everyone wants to hit the gym and get back in shape and get skinny.

But Bodog has released an online slots game that is about getting fat—in the bankroll that is.

The latest, and first up, in the New Year from Bodog is called Freaky Gym. Yes, you are going to go to the gym, but you this one is better if for only one reason: you will not get sweaty.

This five reel is special in that slots players can collect every sixty spins. That is the main, call to fame feature of this online slots game.

The sixty spin feature is called Freaky Pot. It is based on the idea that you will be rewarded if you stick with it—kind of like eventually you will get something out of going to the gym again and again and again and….

But this Freaky Pot feature is a bit sneaky—not that I blame it, it is associated with a gym and gyms are on my list of sneaky. The pot is built up over the course of sixty spins. But where does that money come from?

From your own wagers: 5% of your wager is put into the Freaky Pot as long as your wager is a minimum of $0.50. So, yes, you are collecting back a bit of what you put in. And that means you are not actually winning anything from the online casino.

So let’s say you are only wagering the $0.50 minimum. In sixty spins that is a total of $30. Of that $30, 5% is $1.50. So in sixty spins, only $1.50 is put into the Freaky Pot; and after those sixty spins you are only guaranteed back that $1.50 of the $30 you just wagered.

Does indeed sound like a real gym: put in a lot, get a little back.

Now it is possible to win a random multiplier on the Freak Pot when it comes time to collect it. This said multiplier can also be increased by landing Scatters, which are weights, when slots players land two or more on the reels—kind of like the more weights you use, the more you are working yourself and the more, in theory, you get out of it.

There are other bonuses in Freaky Gym but Freaky Pot is the highlighted bonus feature. Bodog did a good job modeling Freaky Gym after a real gym—especially when it comes to the idea of putting in more than you get out.

Dr. Magoo’s 3D Slots

December 30th, 2010

Grab your jungle gear and your bush hat before seating down to your computer to play this new 3D online slots game. This is because you will be joining Dr. Magoo in the jungle in search of treasures, fortune and glory.

This 3D slots treasure is a testimony to the excitement that can result from a well designed online slots game. Granted this five reel, twenty payline slots game does not offer a bonus game like the other 3D online slots game released this month does. But Dr. Magoo comes with a free spins feature that presents players with essentially a different slots game.

In order to trigger the free spins feature players must discover three Cave Entrances on the reels. Only then will the secret free spins feature of Dr. Magoo be revealed.

The number of free spins awarded depends on how many Cave Entrances you land…or discover…it all depends on how you look at it. Three Cave Entrances will award you with ten free spins; four will set you with fifteen; and five Cave Entrances will give you twenty five free spins.

Once the free spins begin players are transported from the green reels of the jungle to the earthy colored reels of the jungle caves in which you hope to find your fortune and glory.

Once in the free spin caves you will find that you have three more Scatters to help you on your way to fortune and glory, each one with a different payout multiplier:

Entrance Tunnel: 25 xs to 500 xs Scatter payout on your activating wager
Statue: 10 xs to 200 xs Scatter payout on your activating wager
Dark Cave: 5 xs to 100 xs Scatter payout on your activating wager

So the Scatters found in the free spins feature payout just like a normal Scatter, but can only be found during a free spin. But you can also increase your free spins. If you stumble across Dr. Magoo on the free spin cave reels he will award you more free spins to keep looking for his—I mean, your fortune and glory. You can actually win up twenty five more free spins.

You will also find an Expanding Wild: Two Birds on a Branch. They only appear on reel three but will expand to fill the entire reel, creating more winning combinations.

Right now Dr. Magoo’s Adventure 3D online slots can only be played in the flash versions of the Rival Gaming software. But some treasure hunting is better than none.
