Slots Holiday Season

February 21st, 2011

We are coming to the end of the winter season. Winter is the biggest season for online slots games and the online casino industry in general. But for online slots players, winter is the best time of year to be a slots player.

The reason that winter is the biggest season for online slots is for two reasons: the weather and the holidays.

Once we hit winter, the majority of the northern hemisphere, which includes the United States and Europe which are two of the biggest online gambling markets, does not want to set foot outside. Temperatures are too cold and in a lot of places there is snow. Why venture out to go to make the trip to a casino when you can play from the warm comfort of your own home?

And while the weather is the principle reason why winter is the biggest season for the online casino industry at large, it is all of the holidays that make winter particularly fun for online slots players.

Technically the holiday season kicks off in September with the Labor Day tournaments, but Halloween is the first major holiday of the winter season as that is when the temperatures up north are beginning to drop and people feel more inclined to stay inside.

Starting with Halloween, there are special holiday tournaments and special freerolls that would not ordinarily be offered if the holiday was not happening. The online slots holiday season will run from Halloween through St. Patrick’s Day. Five months of continual special tournaments and freerolls: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Valentine’s Day and finally St. Patrick’s Day.

Online slots players are also treated to new online slots games that software developers will release with holiday themes. These holiday slots games are often used in the holiday slots tournaments. And if not in tournaments, they are used in holiday slots promotions.

You will find Easter missing from the list because the majority of online casinos have the tact to not make an online slots holiday out of such a highly religious holiday. And the conservative base thinks online gambling industry is thoroughly immoral.

New Freeroll with 1K

January 28th, 2011

There is an online casino that goes by the name of English Harbour. And this weekend they are hosting a new online slots tournament that they hope will be the first in a series. They have to see how it is received first before they make it a regular occurrence, of course.

But I have a feeling this new freeroll will be well received. The Big Free Weekend is, as its name suggests, free and it carries a prize pool of $1,000.

Now while that might not sound like a lot, when you compare it to the other freeroll online slots tournaments offered at English Harbour this new Big Free Weekend’s prize pool is much larger. It is offering $1,000 as compared to the other freerolls’ $300.

The Big Free Weekend is set to begin tonight and carry on through Monday in the early, early morning. Players have that time to spin the reels and climb the leader board.

And speaking of reels, the Vegas Technology online slots game that is being used in this freeroll tournament is Fire Hawk. Fire Hawk is a five reel with twenty paylines for players to play on with a Native American theme. To help players keep their bankroll up there are free spins to be triggered.

On the outset, the Big Free Weekend seems likely to do well at English Harbour. While they offer other online slots tournaments, they do not have a regular slots tournament offering that is free will at the same time offering a significant prize pool.

So here is to English Harbour and their Big Free Weekend. Now if only other online casinos pick up on this and create a comparable slots tournament.

Virgin Casino, Slots and Egypt

January 24th, 2011

Bet you were not expecting all of those words in one phrase. You know how Virgin Casino can be paired with slots, but Egypt? How does that fit in?

Egypt fits in with the other two in a way that will make US players so mad about the conservatives putting the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UGIEA) in place.

In their latest online slots promotion, Virgin Casino is offering up a trip to Egypt. And not just any trip. They are going to send one very lucky player plus a guest to Cairo. The pair will be flown out of London on a Virgin Atlantic plane for a seven day stay in the land of the pharaohs. All expenses paid of course.

Not only is the flight paid for, the lucky winner’s stay in a 4 star hotel for the entire duration of the trip as well as tours of the sights Egypt is famous for, pyramids included, is paid for. Did I mention the £2000 being given for spending money? No, well, the lucky winner gets that too. And £2000 is $1,250 for you US citizens.

And all a British player needed to do was wager at least £500 on any of the Egyptian themed online slots games at Virgin Casino:

-Ramesses Riches
-Pharaoh’s Treasure
-Tomb Raider
-Tomb Raider 2
-50,000 Pyramid
-100,000 Pyramid
-Crocodopolis
-Cleopatra
-Cleopatra 2
-Cleopatra’s Chest

All in all, it was not a difficult promotion to play in. And it is that ease on top of an amazing prize that makes the promotion so tempting and so much of a success. It is also why online slots players in the US wish that the UIGEA would be repealed. After all, who does not wish for an all expenses paid trip to Egypt? And all you had to do was spin the reels of an online slots game.

Slotastic’s New Bonuses

October 6th, 2010

As of this month, the UK based and US friendly online casino Slotastic has changed its slots bonus offerings. The Real Time Gaming powered online casino now offers players the chance to receive $1,100 in bonuses tailored to slots players.

Slots players at Slotastic now start the month off with a $200 monthly paycheck…so to speak. Players are emailed a coupon code that allows them to receive a 100% deposit match bonus worth up to $200.

Then there is the free $100 for playing the Progressive Jackpot of the Month. Each month one progressive slots game is named the Game of the Month. Players will receive another coupon code for another 100% deposit match bonus worth up to $100.

October’s Progressive Jackpot of the Month is Jackpot Piñatas. Get to swinging—I mean, spinning.

Each week one online slots game is chosen to be the Slot of the Week. And each week players receive a 50% deposit match bonus worth up to $100. So that is $400 in a month.

Then there is also the Midweek Madness Bonus. Every Wednesday means another coupon code for a 25% deposit match bonus worth up to $100. Like with the Slot of the Week Bonus, there are four Midweek Madnesses in one month, so that is another $400 in a month.

So add up $200, $100, $400 and another $400 and you have the $1,100 that slot players at Slotastic receive each month.

Slot bonuses allow slots players an increased amount of play on their favorite online slots games. Bonus money, while not being able to withdraw it right away, increases a player’s bankroll, which can either increase the size of their wagers or increase the amount of playing time they have.

Naturally the longer a player plays the more chances she has to win because the reels are being spun more.

On the whole these are some good improvements to Slotastic’s slot bonus offerings. Slot bonuses are often a big factor when a slots player chooses an online casino so good bonuses are a must on an online casino’s part.

Word on Malta Online Casinos

September 29th, 2010

While this news is not directly related to online slots, it does have an impact on where you play your online slots games.

It was recently discovered that online casinos whose licenses come from Malta do not have any legal obligation to pay winnings to players. This is because Maltese law says that gambling debts are not enforceable.

So Maltese licensed online casinos are not under law required to pay their players.

To me this is a big problem. What is the point of playing online casino games, such as our beloved online slots, if we are not going to be paid when we win?

How did this story come to light?

Back in 2008 a German player at Casino Club won the equivalent of $228,318 in a jackpot on a video poker online game. First casino staff tried to convince him to just keep playing and not withdraw his winnings.

Then his account was closed for security reasons and his winnings confiscated because they believed he had won the jackpot illegally. The gentleman then contacted the Lotteries and Gaming Authority, the regulating body of gaming in Malta. That is when he was informed that Maltese law does not enforce gambling debts.

But I am willing to bet that if a patron owed a casino money that debt would be enforced.

To go along with being told that Maltese law would not make Casino club pay him his winnings, the gentleman then was informed that he was under suspicion of unspecified fraud involving the use of robot program, abusing bonus offers and having more than one player account.

All this after playing at Casino Club for a few years.

The German player in question was told by his lawyer that the only way this could be settled would be to take his case to the Maltese courts. But between their law making gambling debts unenforceable and the slogan of the LGA being “Advocate of Fair Play Since 1998,” I doubt that justice will be found.

As for his winnings, the German player’s winnings are said to be going back into the game’s jackpot for someone else to win. But do you really think that player would be paid their winnings?

So online slots players, it might be wise to avoid playing in Maltese licensed online casinos for the time being.

New Slots with a New Casino

September 27th, 2010

Last week the ThoughtLink Ltd launched a new online casino. This new online casino of theirs is powered by Rival Gaming, maker of the ever popular iSlots. The name of this new online casino? It is Spartan Slots Casino.

Despite the spare name of this new online casino, it is being launched with an out pouring of money. This includes a $5,000 Welcome Bonus Package made up of a 100% deposit match bonus worth up to $1,000, a second deposit match bonus of 2005 worth up to $400, and topping it off are four reload deposit match bonuses of 150% making up the remaining $3,600.

But the real push of this new online casino is the special four new online slots games that Rival Gaming made especially for the Spartan Slots Casino. These four new slots games are called: Diamonds Down Under, Best of Luck, Aussie Rules and, to go along with the new online casino’s name, Spartan Warrior.

And like the majority of online casinos in the industry, Spartan Slots is also offering progressive online slots games with progressive jackpots. No word yet on whether these new progressive jackpots are linked to any of Spartan’s sister casinos or not as most online casinos are prone to do.

ThoughtLink Ltd. is also the owner of other online casinos, such as Box 24. Their online casinos are like flip flops, easy to get into and fun to use. Between their welcome bonuses and their exclusive online slots games this new online casino will be a nice addition to the ThoughtLink Ltd. family.

Slots Bonuses and Pre-Paid Gift Cards

September 27th, 2010

With restrictions on how U.S. players can deposit money to their player accounts, some online casinos are looking for other deposit methods that can help make depositing a little easier for U.S. players. And some will offer up slot bonuses to entire players to use them.

One such way is pre-paid gift cards. These little cards allow players to put a balance onto the gift card. They can then deposit money from the gift card to their player account so that the money does not seem to be coming straight from a financial institution.

Some online casinos accept the pre-paid gift cards, most notably several of the Vegas Technology online casinos, which do accept U.S. players.

Crazy Slots in particular not only accepts pre-paid gift cards, they also offer players a slots bonus.

The first time a player uses a pre-paid gift card to deposit money to their player account, they receive a 100% deposit match bonus. This bonus is worth up to $600. So for the player who deposits $600 using a pre-paid gift card, she will receive another $600 from Crazy Slots.

Naturally players need a coupon code in order to receive this slots bonus. For the first pre-paid gift card deposit players need to enter ZY035 in the cashier section of the online casino.

But the slots bonuses do not stop there. After that first slots bonus, players can continue to receive more slots bonuses for using a pre-paid gift card. Every time a player uses one, they can receive a 10% deposit match bonus worth up to $100.

Cray Slots is definitely giving players a good reason to use pre-paid gift cards to deposit money to their player accounts. Free money in a slots bonus is still free money.

Online Slots Tournament Late Night

September 24th, 2010

What is the best way for an online slots player to keep themselves entertained in the early hours of the morning?

An online slots tournament that is especially for all of those late night people!

And Go Casino has just the online slots tournament series to fill that need. They host their Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament every night, or morning depending on how you view time, of the week. That means that there is always some late night online slots action out there for night owl slots players.

It is also offers a chance to play and even win an online slots tournament that most players will not play in simply because they are asleep. True, less participation means less in the Pot to win, but it also increases a player’s chances of winning the Pot.

Each Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament begins at 12:30 am and runs through 8:30 am every day. So there is no single night, or morning, that leaves an online slots player without a late night thrill.

This month seven online slots games created by the ever popular Vegas Technology have been selected to be used in this online slots tournament series, one for each night of the week:

Monday: Winter Wonderland
Tuesday: Parrot Party
Wednesday: Tiki Lounge
Thursday: Northern Lights
Friday: Butterflies

And the weekend night, or morning, offerings are:

Saturday: Fire Hawk
Sunday: Eastern Dragon

Players who are interested in the Red Eye Pot Percentage online slots tournament series only need to register at Go Casino and pay the $2.99 entry fee to receive their 250 tournament credits; rebuys are $2.99.

First for a Progressive Slots Jackpot

September 15th, 2010

The management at Jackpot City was a bit stunned by their most recent progressive slots jackpot winner of £4,444.

No, they were not stunned by the fact that someone won the progressive jackpot. So if it is not the fact that a player won that stunned them, how exactly do you stun the management staff of an online casino?

Simple. You refuse to accept the jackpot.

A spokesman from Jackpot City said, “This is a first for us at Jackpot City, where a player has refused to claim their winnings.”

The latest winner of the WowPot progressive jackpot hails from China. And he has declined his progressive jackpot win on the grounds of his culture’s superstitions.

Culture in China is very different from Western culture. The Chinese believe very much in their culture’s superstitions, this includes the belief in Numerology.

So what was the Numerology superstition that has this man in China refusing his jackpot?

In Chinese Numerology the word for the number 4 has a very similar sound to the word ‘death’ in Chinese. Because of the similar sound, the number 4 is to be avoided as often as possible. Dealings with the number 4 are believed to bring bad luck, another cultural belief in China.

You can see how a prize made up of four number 4s would make this winner wary.

“This player contacted customer support upset about the winnings amount. He was not keen about missing his winnings but at the same time is very worried about bringing bad luck to himself and his family,” a spokesman said.

So what do you do when a player refuses to accept their progressive slots jackpot winnings? Well, I do not know and it seems that management at Jackpot City does not either, but they are trying to figure it out:

“We are talking with the player in hopes of working out a different approach which would be sensitive to the player’s beliefs and also ensure he does not lose out on his progressive winnings.”

At least we know that online casinos, despite the reputation for wanting to take a player’s money, do make the effort to make sure they get their progressive slots jackpot winnings.

Online Slots Tips: Credits

September 14th, 2010

Online slots started off as similar to the good ol’ slot machines as was possible by their software creators.

In order to play a slot machine, players would have to put coins into the machine and pull the handle and eventually push the Spin button.

For online slots, players could not put actual coins into their computers to play an online slots game. First they make a deposit to their player account. Once they have money in their player account, players would then click the + or – buttons to set how much they were wagering per payline.

Even though it required a deposit to a player account and was all electronic, players were still playing online slots games with coins like they would on a real slot machine.

But recently players have begun to see credits on their online slots games instead of coins. It seems the new online slots games are having players wager credits. Is there a difference?

No. Despite what online casinos would like players to believe there is not a difference between coins and credits. It is just a different name for the same thing.

When players are playing an online slots game they are well aware that they are playing with real money. After all they can see just how much they are wagering in cents right there on the interface.

By switching from coins to credits for wagering, online casinos are hoping that players will not attach the idea that credits are money, and will wager more. After all it is only credits is what they are hoping players will think, and then spin the reels some more.

For slots strategy and bankroll management, players need to keep in their minds that credits are indeed the same as money, and not forget that they are playing with real money. After all it is only money.
