A Slots Adventure

May 20th, 2010

Normally I am a fan of Microgaming’s online slots games. They are not all fantastic, but they will usually have some element that is redeeming, even if it is only the graphics. But I think I have finally found an online slots game by them that I am just not a fan of.

The online slots game in question here is called Adventure Palace. It is a five reel online slots game with nine paylines. The graphics, while colorful, are pretty basic in their design. Their design being themed around what might be an Asian jungle. Apparently slots players are to ‘search’ through the jungle and its animals for their slots money. Happy hunting.

This online slots game lacks a bonus game, but it does offer up fifteen (15) free spins with a 3x multiplier on them. They are triggered by landing three, four or five of the Scatter Jungle Temple anywhere on the reels.

Sound like an easy feat, yes? Not so much. This free spins, I think, are almost untriggerable. I am sure that they are but I could not trigger them, so I cannot tell you if their payout is worth it. But judging from the continuous spinning and spinning and spinning I am going to venture a guess, and say that they probably are not worth the spins it will take to trigger them.

This online slots game does offer a Wild though: an Elephant. Any winning combination that the Elephant completes will have its winnings doubled.

And you will need those doubled winnings as this online slots game does not seem all that prone to making payouts. Any that it does payout tend to be on the small side, worth less than the cost of the spin in fact.

This is an online slots game that will slowly drain you bankroll. And without the free spins to help balance out the loss of funds, it makes this online slots game one to put on the ‘Do Not Play’ list. My advice? If you like Microgaming, stick with another one of their slots games.

Why Online Gambling Should be Legalized

May 20th, 2010

Well, the first reason is obvious: we like playing online slots, we want to play online slots, and who is the government to tell us how we can entertain ourselves or spend our money?

But those are more personal reasons, and reasons of an online slots player. There are more realistic and far reaching reasons.

First off, there is the risk that thousands of jobs will be lost. The government is supposed to be trying to find ways to create jobs and to stimulate the economy. Many content providers, graphic designers and website designers and owners could lose their income and jobs. And since the government is supposed to be creating them, this loss of jobs seems counterproductive to that effort.

As for stimulating the economy, thousands that lose their jobs and then the thousands more who will have their incomes reduced will have less money to put back into their communities and the economy at large. If we have less money to spend we are going to be more careful how we spend it and more prone to hanging on to it. Not spending it to try to keep the economy going.

Not to mention those who lose their jobs or have a reduction in income will pay less in taxes as they have less money coming in to be taxed. And the last I heard the government is looking for ways to bring in more money, not reduce the amount they are getting.

In Wednesday’s hearing of the House Ways and Means Committee, the discussion was quickly turned from taxing possibilities and benefits of online gambling by Republicans eager to discuss whether we should have legalized online gambling. Bob Goodlatte was quoted as saying, “It is unfathomable that Congress would consider legalizing…an activity that imposes harm on the most vulnerable members of our society.”

He implies that all those who gamble are weak people. But celebrities, politicians, and other highly thought of individuals gamble, and no one thinks of them as being the “most vulnerable members of our society.”

Now if the federal government were to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and regulate and tax online gambling, in short pass Barney Frank’s and Jim McDermott’s bills, then the government will have another income source. They will also be creating jobs to fill the needs of regulating the online gambling industry in the U.S.

So it would seem that the government would rather tell us that they know best what is good for us rather than looking at this as way to increase income and jobs. Apparently it is more important to save us from ourselves than to try to save our country’s economy.

So it is not just about online slots players wanting the ability to keep playing their favorite slots games online. It is actually about income and jobs for this country. Okay, and it is about online slots for players.

When in Rome…

May 19th, 2010

I have a new online casino on my recommended list. This recently addition has some very nice bonus offers, some which are just for slots players. Which we always like.

Rome Casino was established in 2008, and has been climbing steadily up the online casino industry ladder ever since to become a new favorite with a payout percentage of 96.5%. It is a Top Game powered online casino that is licensed and regulated out of Costa Rica. And the entire site is themed for Rome.

Slots players have two Welcome Bonuses to choose from here.

The first is the Romulus. This bonus gives players the potential to earn up to $6,000 over the first four deposits. The first deposit bonus is a 400% match worth up to $3,000. The second through fourth deposits have 200% match bonuses on them worth up to $1,000 each.

That bonus is open to any player who joins Rome. But online slots players have another one that is offered only to them:

This would be the Remus bonus. It is a 400% deposit match worth up to $3,000. This is a slots only promotion. Tough luck, table gamers.

For online slots players who play on the weekends there is the Weekend Warrior bonus. This bonus gives slots players the chance to earn up to $10,000 every weekend. This is spread out over ten (10) deposits with a 150% match bonus worth up to $1,000 each.

If you like to play you slots during the week, say after work for example, there is a bonus for you too: the Weekday Labour. Online slots players receive unlimited deposit bonuses during the week.

All of that is available only to online slots players. Not a bad way to welcome and pamper those of us who like to watch the reels spin. But Rome does not stop with bonuses such as those. They also offer a 15% referral program if you bring your friends along to play.

And there is also a chance to win a trip to Rome. For every $200 wagered in real money, one (1) ticket is entered into the drawing. On June 1st of this year one (1) winner will be chosen, and will be sent with a friend on a five (5) nights stay in Rome with five star accommodations and guided tours.

While they might be extremely exuberant in their love of Rome and in how Rome their online casino is themed, Rome Casino knows how to treat their players—particularly the online slots players.

Quarter Online Slots Tournaments

May 19th, 2010

Sometimes online slots players are nervous about playing in a tournament. It is the switch from playing one on one with the game. You know that there is a jackpot, and there is a feeling that you are the only one playing for it.

But with tournaments, you know that there is only one prize and that you are competing against a bunch of other players. And not only are you playing against all these other faceless players for one prize, you had to dish out an entry fee to play in this.

Another stigma of tournaments is that they imply that only those that are really good and highly skilled stand a chance.

Luckily with online slots there is not skill in clicking Spin. So one player is not any better than another. With online slots being a game of chance everyone is on equal footing.

So now the only aspect of tournaments to conquer is paying the entry fee—which often feels like it is more of an investment than depositing money to your playing account. But that aspect can be overcome easily enough, you just have to start small.

Go Casino offers their players Quarter Online Slots Tournaments.

Seriously, all a player has to pay for an entry fee is $0.25. That quarter gets the player one hundred and fifty (150) tournament credits to play with. If a player runs out of tournament credits there are rebuys for $1.50.

Granted these are small slots tournaments in terms of entry fees so naturally the prize is smaller than a tournament that costs, say, $11.99 to enter. Go’s Quarter Slots Tournaments have a prize of $750 bonus bucks that are deposited in the winner’s playing account.

The Quarter Slots Tournaments run Monday through Thursday every week from 7pm to 2am. The same online slots game is used for the week, and it is then changed for the next week. This week’s game is Fat Cat, and next week’s is Monster Money.

So if you are looking to get your feet wet in terms of online slots tournaments, these Quarter Slots Tournaments are a good way to start. Click over to Go Casino to check out these tournaments and others.

Promotions That Benefit Online Slots Players

May 18th, 2010

As much as we would like online slots to be a highly lucrative endeavor, we all know from experience that the reels do not always spin in our favor. Sometimes we lose enough money that not even bonus games and free spins will get us back to even. And we wind up wishing that there was a magic money fairy to just make money appear in our accounts.

Well, they do not have a magic money fairy but Silver Oak does have a couple of ways for online slots players to find some extra money in their playing accounts.

Silver Oak is a relatively new online casino, having been established in 2008. It is powered by the Real Time Gaming Platform, and is licensed in Costa Rica. And slots players that live in the U.S. will be glad to know that they do accept U.S. players.

Now about those two money in the playing account programs. Both of these programs are free and players do not have to do any special signing up; they are automatically eligible for them.

The first one is known as Bankroll Protection, and it is unique to Silver Oak. Each week this online casino will credit ten percent (10%) of a player’s real money losses from the previous week. The 10% is based on how much a player deposited to their playing account and how much of that was lost.

To see the math, let’s say that you deposited $500. You would be credited $50 in casino chips to help get you back on your feet. All you have to do is deposit and play. The credit is given automatically by Wednesday.

This is a pretty good program for online slots players because it allows us to get some of our money back each week. And this is nice if we have a rough week at the reels.

The other program is Silver Oak Cash Back Bonus. This program is open to any player who deposits more than $1,000 in one deposit. For high rolling online slots players and those who like to have their bankroll well established this is a good promotion.

Each week, on Monday in fact, players who have made that $1,001 minimum deposit, a cash back bonus can be found in their playing account. The amount of your cash back will be determined by how much you have deposited:

$1,001-$5,000 = 30% cash back
$5,001-$10,000 = 40% cash back
$40,001-$20,000 = 50% cash back
$20,001 and up = 60% cash back

Both of these programs have a lot of potential for online slots players. It is a way for us to get some of our money back!

Click over to Silver Oak to check out their other promotions as well as these two. If you have any questions their customer support staff is standing by ready to help.

Tips for Playing Online Slots

May 18th, 2010

Playing slots online from wherever you want is one of the benefits that online casinos give us. With how much gaming technology has advanced in the last several years, we now have a seemly endless variety of themes for our online slots; everything from classics to a slot quest for beer.

But for all the fun and easy access that online slots give us, there are still some things to keep in mind when playing. These brightly colored slots games bring to mind brightly colored pieces of candy—they are a lot of fun, but too much of a good thing can be bad.

Here are some tips for online slots to keep in mind:

Online slots do not have any strategy. You will come across people who will say that they have created or know of a strategy that allows them to beat the game. But the truth is that slots cannot be beat. They are truly games of chance. You place your wager, click Spin and hope you land the jackpot. But in all likelihood you will not win the jack pot.

Online slots are meant to be a form of gambling entertainment. They are not a gateway to easy money. Keeping the fact that slots are entertainment will help keep you from getting frustrated while playing. We all want to win, but the odds are against us in this one. The best we can do is keep in mind that this is just entertainment.

Now that we have established that online slots are games of chance that we play because we like them, there are ways that you can spin out your fun with the games.

First off slow down when playing. Do not click Spin as fast as your mouse will let you. The more spins per hour that you make the more the odds will stack up against you. Odds are about one side taking the money. With slots being a game that slowly takes your money, the less spins per hour that you make the more money you are depriving the house of, so the more your odds can go up.

When it comes to your wagering, give yourself a set amount to gamble with. And then do not gamble more than that amount. This is a guard against spinning away all of your money. Think of it as wager control. And avoid progressive slots; they tend to be on the addictive side and will eat up your bankroll.

By keeping in mind these slots tips and applying them when playing online you can increase the quality of your gambling experience.

Spinning for Gold

May 17th, 2010

While this online slots game has the traditional 9, 10, J, Q, K and A symbols that I normally do not like looking at, I have to admit that the ones in this game a very well done. They really do bring to mind this slots game’s name: Liquid Gold.

Liquid Gold is a five reel online slots game from Microgaming with twenty paylines to play on. And with a name like Liquid Gold you can easily imagine what other symbols this game has in addition to the very fluid warm gold colored traditional symbols.

Naturally there are Bars of Gold, Stacks of Gold, Stacks of Cars, and Gold Melting Pots. There is no doubt about what this online slots game is supposed to bring to mind. Players will be playing this and thinking of what they are going to do with their winnings.

But first you have to get those winnings.

To help players along the way is the Liquid Gold Logo. It is the Wild that will substitute for all symbols except the Bonus Gold Mold. The highest payout is offered with the Logo: five are worth 5,000 coins.

Now that Bonus Gold Mold is not just the trigger to the free spins feature; it is also the Scatter. When three, four or five Bonus Gold Molds are landed, the slots player is awarded ten free spins with a 2x multiplier.

But the only problem with these free spins is that they are not the easiest to trigger. Granted I triggered it on my first spin and wound up winning 710 coins. But after that, not only was I unable to trigger them again, it was rather difficult to land even two of the Scatter for a Scatter payout.

As delightful as this online slots game appears, it is more about collecting your money and melting it down than in paying out. Regular payouts tend to be on the small side, and without the Scatter to help offset that, it makes this online slots game a little discouraging.

How Important is Payout Percentage?

May 17th, 2010

I have heard that not many online slots players give payout percentage much thought. However, those who play slot machines in the brick and mortar casinos are more concerned with the payout percentages of the machines.

This could be because slot machines, or banks of slot machines, will have their payout percentages openly advertised. Players in brick and mortar casinos are very much aware of which bank of machines has a better likelihood of paying out than others.

Whereas, the payout percentages of online slots games are not placed out in the open in an online casino. This is not because online slots games have bad payout percentages—they are actually a little better—but because there is no real place to advertise them.

But it is possible to find out what the payout percentage is for an online slots game. These can be found on sites that focus solely on reviewing online casinos and online casino games.

Payout percentage should be important to online slots players. As a rule, slots—in a casino or online casino—are losing casino games. They are designed to take your money over time. It is true that there are players who win jackpots and larger sums of money, but it is not common place.

The point of the thrill of slots is to play in hopes that you will be the winner of the jackpot. And while this is fine, it is important to keep in mind that slots are designed to take money. And that is why payout percentage is important.

The higher an online casino’s payout percentage and the higher an online slots game’s payout percentage is, the better the likelihood that you could have more frequent payouts or higher payouts.

This is why an online casino’s payout percentage or an online slots game’s payout percentage is so important: the game is going to take your money most likely—the best that you can do is to find a way to slow that taking down so that you can enjoy the game for longer and hopefully hit that jackpot.

Chicken Dance Slots Tournament

May 14th, 2010

No, I am not lying. There really is a Chicken dance tournament. Actually it is called the Dance Like a Chicken online slots tournament, and it is being hosted by VIP Slots Casino.

Even though this tournament is in progress as I write this, I could not pass up the opportunity to write about a tournament called Dance Like a Chicken.

This online slots tournament started at 12:01 this morning, and it will run through 10:59pm tonight, but you can register to join this tournament up until 9:59pm. At the time of this writing, there were three hundred and twenty three (323) players in the tournament.

The entry fee is only $3 and it gives slots players a tournament balance of $50. Should it be necessary, players have up to fifty (50) rebuys, and each rebuy is another $3 that gets them another $50.

As for the prize pool, it is sitting at $2,259.39.

This tournament is, of course, named because of the online slots game that it is being played out on: Funky Chicken.

Funky Chicken is a five reel online slots gamer from the Vegas Technology line up with twenty five paylines. It is themed with a farm and cornfields—there is a very Angry Farmer, Eggs, and Tractors. The Scarecrow is the Wild, and the Chicken is the Scatter.

Landing three or more Chickens will trigger fifteen (15) free spins; at the beginning of the first spin the Funky Chicken will appear and reveal the randomly awarded multiplier for the free spins. Thankfully, online slots players will have free spins that they can win to help keep their tournament balance up.

Dance your way over to VIP Slots—there is still time to get in on this fun online slots tournament. Dance Like a Chicken and you just might win a part of the $2,259.39.

Slots: Men vs. Women

May 14th, 2010

This is not meant to be a men bashing or a women bashing post. I am not going to say that one gender is better than the other at playing slots or not.

It comes down to the fact that men and women are just different. Not that differences are bad. They are just that, differences. And that is it.

So since it is Friday, I thought I would write a fun blog on these differences between men and women and how they play slots games.

First up, Men and slots games.

It seem that men are more prone to playing slots games faster than women, as well as being more likely to wager more or in higher denominations. Men are also more focused on their slots games. It seems that men are more focused on their slots games because it is almost like a competition between them and the machine. This also makes men more prone to taking it personally when they lose.

But on the other hand men are less likely to play slots games for lengthily periods of time, preferring to go back and hit the card tables; those are games that they feel more in control of.

As for women and slots games…

Slots games are more sociable for women. It is not uncommon to see a few in a row all talking and playing at the same time. This is also the reason that women tend to be slower at spinning the reels as compared to men. This could be because women are more sociable and are less focused on a slots game.

Women are more easily satisfied by the slots games’ excitement and comps. They do not take it personally when they lose. On the other hand, since they will play longer than men, they tend to lose more money on slots, despite wagering less.

Both men and women have pros and cons for playing slots games in a smart way: men play for shorter periods of time, albeit spinning faster, while women play slower and longer. In the end, the two genders will pull even in playing slots. So being a man or a woman does not give one an edge over the other.
