$1.99 Slots Tournaments!

February 18th, 2010

What is better than a freeroll slots tournament?

One that costs hardly anything to enter!

Online Vegas rises to meet such a desire with their Frugal Fridays series of slots tournaments. These online slots tournaments take place every Friday—which means that one is starting tomorrow—at 9am, and they run through 7:45pm of the same day. But the best part about these tournaments is the entry fee. It is only $1.99.

Each Frugal Friday has a guaranteed prize pool of $1,500. Granted that is not near the amount of say, Online Vegas’s Spring into March tournament which is offering $75,000. But look at the entry fee! Paying only $1.99 for a piece of $1,500. For what you are paying for there is the potential to win more than your investment.

Slots players begin each Frugal Friday tournament with 150 coins for their stake. And if you run out the re-buy is only $1.99. This tournament series was designed to allow those who have been hit hard by the economy to still enjoy the thrill of playing in a slots tournament. And that is the beauty of these Frugal Friday tournaments.

To keep each tournament interesting, Online Vegas changes the game every week.

Tomorrow’s online slots game of choice is Karaoke Cash. This is a five reel themed with the excitement of karaoke (good karaoke) with all the feeling of being the best on the stage. It actually seems more themed like a big karaoke contest…like an American Idol kind of singing contest.

Next Friday’s game of choice is Monster Money. This is another five reel, but this one revolves around a cartoon-ish Dr. Frankenstein and his desire to build his creation. You’ll find the Doctor, his Igor-like assistant and the creations body parts here for your money-winning amusement.

Stop by Online Vegas to take part in a Frugal Friday tournament—see if you will be one of the ones to win part of that $1,500.

Ahoy Mateys! There be Slots to Play!

February 17th, 2010

From the Vegas Technology sails the online slots game known as X Marks the Spot. This one is heavily inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean, although not enough to grab Disney’s eye.

This is a five reel online slots game with twenty paylines. Players can wager from $0.01 up to $10 per line. Vegas Teach seems to be quite good at creating online slots games that will fit the needs of both low rollers and high rollers.

But, yes, this is a pirate themed slots game. You will not find any numbers or letters for symbols here; each one somehow relates to pirates be it the Rum, the Monkey or the Dessert Island.

And, yes, there is a parrot.

Vegas Tech gives online slots players to keep an eye open for on the horizon.

The first would be the Pirate, which does indeed bare a cartoonish resemblance to Captain Jack Sparrow. He is the Wild symbol, substituting for all symbols other than the Cannon and the Treasure Map. Pirates must be adaptable it seems.

The Cannon is the Scatter symbol. It will payout no matter where it lands on the reels and independent of active paylines. It will also activate fifteen free spins in which all your winnings are multiplied by three—but first you must land at least three of them.

But it is the Treasure Map that is the most fun. And it does offer a fun spin on the pick-a-prize. Three Treasure Maps will bring you to a treasure map of your very own. On that map you will choose three places for the pirate to dig. Each bit of treasure that he digs up is yours for the taking.

Although at the end of the bonus game you will be presented with the chance to trade your treasure for the golden key to the treasure chest. You might win more in the chest, but then again you might not. But it does make for an entertaining bonus game.

On the whole this is a fairly entertaining online slots game. The animation is good and the graphics detailed, the animation smooth. Good thing, that Vegas Technology made this one for low rollers and high rollers alike. It seems more geared towards lots of smaller payouts versus the very less frequent larger payouts, but it only serves to keep you interested in the game.

Sail your way to just about any Vegas Tech powered online casino, such as Go Casino, and see if you can get some buried treasure of your own from X Marks the Spot.

About Those Bonus Rounds…

February 17th, 2010

It has well been established that the results of a spin on a slot machine is determined by the Random Number Generator (RNG); and that the results of each spin is determined the moment you start the reels spinning. This is why Stop Spin has no effect on the outcome. And why you cannot affect the outcome of the spin.

This applies to both online slots games and slot machines found in land-based casinos. They all have RNGs that determine their results.

But what about the bonus games?

It is in the bonus games where you pick which briefcase, present, box, etc. Are the results of a bonus game determined from the moment you begin a bonus game?

Actually, no, they are not.

It is in the slots bonus games that slots players have an influence on the outcome of the round. Each box or present has already randomly filled with its prize amount. The results of the bonus round are not pre-determined by the RNG like a spin on the reels is.

While the prize amount in each box is randomly chosen, it is chosen at the beginning of the bonus game before the player has made any choices. This allows for the fairness and randomness to remain intact. So a slots player cannot say that a bonus game is rigged.

The way it works is the slots player, both online slots players and land-based slots players, will win a bonus game. The screen will fill with, say, nine boxes—three of which the player will choose; the total of those three boxes will determine their bonus amount. The bonus game will load on the screen with the prize amounts already determined.

This is where a slots player actually has an effect on the outcome. The slots player is choosing which boxes he wants, ergo he is choosing which prize amounts he wants. In the end, the slots player is the one responsible for the amount he has won.

So if you win a small bonus amount remember that you chose the boxes, the game is not rigged for a small amount. And if you win a large amount you, as they say in Indiana Jones, have chosen wisely.

Win a Million Dollars on a Slots Game?

February 16th, 2010

Is it possible to win a million dollars in a slots game?

Perhaps. But it is probably easier said than done.

Win a Million Dollars, a Vegas Technology creation, is one of those games designed to make you believe that it is that easy to win big on this five reel.

This game has all the hallmarks of Vegas technology: smooth play and detail-rich graphics. Slots players can see the hair details on the Coin symbol, and the Millionaire was given ring that can barely be seen. The time and creativity was defiantly poured into this online slots game.

But this game defiantly proves that it is easier said than done to win a million dollars.

For one thing there are only five paylines. And while this is good because it will keep your total bet down per spin, it makes it difficult to create winning combinations. Yes, there is a Wild but he does not act as a multiplier like in other online slots games.

It is true that there is a bonus game as well. But it is not the easiest bonus game to trigger. Three bonus Briefcases must be lined up on an active payline rather than just three landed anywhere on the reels like in other online slots games.

As for the bonus game, do not expect to win big during it. Nine briefcases will appear on the screen and slots players will get to choose three of them. In each briefcase is a prize amount. The total of all three chosen briefcases is the player’s bonus award. Unfortunately, you will mostly likely only win back the amount of one total bet, which kind of spoils the fun of a bonus game.

But there is a way to win a million dollars in this online slots game. Slots players must have all five paylines active and wager a minimum of $5 per spin. Slots players must then land five Wild Millionaires to win the million dollars.

So while it is possible to win a million dollars on this online slots game, it is not the most likely of outcomes. The best use of this game is to play it as just a slots game and to enjoy the smaller total bet, which will keep your bankroll alive longer. The good news is that the smaller payouts are usually at least equal to one total bet that you have made.

This is an online slots game to be enjoyed as a good online slots game rather than one that will payout big regularly. This online slots game can be found in Vegas Technology powered online casino, such as Crazy Slots.

Choosing How You Win at Slots

February 16th, 2010

The thing with slots games is that these games come in a range of payouts.

Some will payout often but they will only be small payouts. These payouts keep your bankroll on a more steady ground, give you that good feeling that comes from winning—even if you are not winning big.

Other slots games will dole out large payouts but they will not award them nearly as often as smaller payouts happen. Large payouts give that incredible high of winning big. But since they do not happen often there is the potential of hurting your bankroll.

Really it depends on what you are comfortable with bankroll and risk wise.

And it also warrants some thought about how much you are really winning. Let’s say you spend $100 on one game only to win $110 in a payout. You have in all reality only won $10.

But slots players are going to have cause for excitement this year. There are going to be slots games made that allow the player to control the payout threshold.

Incredible Technologies is going to be creating slots games in which players will have a choice on payout threshold. They will be able to choose between winning Often, Steady or Big.

While these three levels have not been explained in detail as of yet some idea as to how these choices payout can be assumed.

By choosing Often a player is electing to win regularly but understands that these are going to be smaller payouts. A Steady payout selection would mean larger payout, and while they would come pretty regularly, they will not happen as often. Then of course there is Big. For this setting it can be assumed that a slots player will win large payouts, but they will not happen regularly.

And while the ability to choose your slots payout threshold seems like a way to “beat the game,” it does not guarantee that a slots player will win the jackpot.

All it is doing is aligning the slots game with the player’s preferences, which makes a player much more likely to sit and stay awhile playing.

Riches to be found in the Mayan Kingdom

February 12th, 2010

To be found in the RealTime Gaming is the online slots game Mayan Queen. This is a five reel online slots game with twenty five paylines.

This is an online slots game that can appeal to both low rollers and high rollers alike with a wager range of $0.01 up to $5.00. But it will more likely appeal to low rollers since most of the denominations are found in the lower end of the wager range.

This is a graphics rich slots game bringing the richness and exoticness of the ancient Mayan empire. The symbols have intricate details that also add to the richness of the graphics. Players will encounter parrots, Mayan jewelry and treasure and idols, but they can also expect to be face to face with snakes, jaguars and daggers.

The greatest treasure—well, greatest in terms of the symbols—is the Emeralds. As long as you can find at least two of them on the reels you will receive a scatter payout. Five emeralds will award players 500 coins to be multiplied by their total bet.

But it is the Mayan Queen who rules this online slots game. She is the Wild symbol, but she also is a multiplier and will double all payouts. But this queen has a very unique role in this game. She will only be found on the third reel, but when she does land there she will expand to cover the whole reel.

But the Mayan Queen’s truly unique aspect is that she will not only substitute for the regular symbols, but she will also substitute for the Scatter Emerald. This is unusual since in most online slots games the Wild does not stand in for the Scatter. But she does in this slots game.

The highest fixed jackpot that can be won come from landing five Pyramids; this will award players 15,000 coins. But if the Mayan Queen is substituting for one of those Pyramids then that lucky player will be awarded 30,000 coins.

Between the Mayan Queen’s abilities and the Scatter Emeralds this online slots game offers plays quite the opportunity to win. If anything this online slots game should be given a try just to see the Mayan Queen actually substitute for a Scatter symbol.

The Olympics Comes to Slots Games

February 12th, 2010

With the Winter Olympics starting up in Vancouver the Olympian fever is spreading. And it has arrived at All Slots Casino in the form of an almost month long slots tournament called the $50,000 Olympian Playoffs.

The tournament launched on February 9th and will run through March 7th. All Slots and its operator the Jackpot Factory Group wanted a tournament to not only celebrate the games that are starting up in Canada, but also to launch one of its newest games: Winter Gold.

The $50,000 Olympian Playoffs is not like other online slots tournaments. Like the Winter Olympics it will feature more than one game. In fact it will feature more than one type of casino game.

Three of the games will be slots games. Winter Gold is of course one of the online slots games chosen; the other two are Avalon and Cashville. The other two games are Blackjack Gold and European Roulette. So there is something for everyone in this one-of-a-kind tournament.

The way that the Olympian Playoffs have been structured is that players compete in all five games. There is a scoreboard that all participating players have access to so they can see how they are doing compared to other players. It also drives up the competitive spirit. Points are awarded to players for wagers they place and payouts they receive. And worth noting is that players who earn a payout of 1,000 credits or more will receive a 10 point boost.

The $50,000 prize pool will be split into one thousand prizes for players to win. Stop by All Slots Casino to find out more on the Olympian Playoffs. And go for that gold.

What’s Your Sign?

February 11th, 2010

No, I am not trying to pick you up with a cheesy line. This is the name of a member of Vegas Technology’s online slots games.

It is s five reel bonus slots game with twelve paylines. Very appropriate when you see that the theme for this online slot is the zodiac. The graphics are brightly colored even if they are a bit on the cartoonish side. But then this is a slots game and not a grand work of art.

There is no animation when combinations are formed; the symbols will flash though to help you see how many you lined up. Actually, the lack of animation is refreshing when compared to all the animation that one can find on a slots game now. There’s a more relaxing, less frantic feeling to this game.

All twelve signs are present of course. And they are broken down into four levels, so to speak, of payouts. The signs that payout the most are Aquarius, Ares and Capricorn. The next highest three are Gemini, Leo and Libra. The third group is made up of Pisces, Sagittarius and Scorpio. The final and smallest payout group is made up of Taurus, Virgo and Cancer.

But the Celestial symbol is the Wild, substituting for all signs other than the bonus Wheel. It is also the Celestial symbol that generates the biggest payout of 10,000 coins.

The Bonus Wheel will trigger the bonus round. But it will only be triggered if you land three of the Wheel. And all three must be on the same payline. This makes it trickier to activate the bonus round. To be honest I was unable to trigger the bonus round.

While the simple play offered by this game is a plus, a hard to trigger bonus round does detract. But if you are looking for a simple online slots game then What’s Your Sign? is a good choice. But some of Vegas Technology’s offering are more lucrative.

Questions about Slot Machines-How the Reels Spin

February 11th, 2010

Since slots players all know that there is not any sort of strategy available to help them win big, they will turn to the machines, to the games themselves and question them. Surely there are some properties that will make one machine better than another. Or maybe some property slots players should avoid.

Today we will look at the speed at which the reels spin and what it means to slots players.

You are bound to find that the reels on some slots games spin faster on one machine than on others. Is it the computer controlling the speed and how does it affect the game?

The computer does control the speed of the reels’ spinning, but it is not a setting that can be changed. When a slot machine or an online slots game is programmed the speed at which the reels spin is set. And it is not changed from there on out unless a game programmer goes in and resets it. But the speed is not going to vary from spin to spin.

But this does not mean that the speed is the same for every single slots game. Some will be programmed to spin faster and others to spin slower. This, of course, allows for the different preferences of players to be met.

What you should know though is that the faster the reels spin, the more you play. And that means the more of your bankroll you are spending. So if you want to hang on to your money for a little longer find a machine or game where the reels spin slower.

But rest assured that the computer is not changing the speed that the reels spin at. It is up to you whether you play on a fast machine or a slower one.

Thunderstruck

February 10th, 2010

In light of Microgaming’s announcement of the creation of Thunderstruck 2, I thought we would take a look at the original Thunderstruck.

Created and released in 2007, this five reel online slots game with nine pay lines went on to be one of the most popular online slots in the Microgaming lineup. It offers players a choice of wager $0.01 up to $1. This helps for players who only want to play for fun, but it still gives serious players the opportunity to wager more and win more.

Thunderstruck is themed based on Norse mythology. Symbols include a Viking hammer, fist, castle and storm clouds. All are well designed and attractively colored. There is no boring playing here.

Slots players can win fifteen free spins can be won if at least three Rams are landed. But all player wins are tripled during the free spins. The fun part is when you reactivate the free spins during a free spin. The wins pilling up just make you feel good.

The other symbol worth his weight is Thor. Thor is the Wild in this online slots game. He will substitute for any symbol in the game other than the Rams. He will also double the amount won in any combination that he helps to create.

Hopefully the free spins and the Wild will be used in the sequel. Most likely they will be in the sequel but we can hope that they are tweeked some, improved some. Microgaming is saying that they are expecting the Thunderstruck sequel to do as good, if not better, than the original. And if they include such features to keep giving players the ability to win big then their sequel is bound to be a success.

But the seven years of success that Thunderstruck has enjoyed are setting the bar quite high.
